Ashley Graham defends her decision to stop breastfeeding twin boys

The model, who welcomed twin boys in January 2022, said breastfeeding them was 'a lot of work'.

Ashley Graham has defended her decision to stop breastfeeding her twin boys when they were a few months old.

The model welcomed her two youngest children, Malachi and Roman, now aged 13 months, in January 2022.

Ashley shared her thoughts during Tuesday's (7 February) edition of The Daily Show, where she discussed attitudes towards breastfeeding with guest host Chelsea Handler.

The 35-year-old, who is also mum to a three-year-old son named Isaac, said: "There's this whole thing with people telling you how to feed your child. With my first kid, I was like, 'I could only breastfeed. This is the right way'."

"This is not working here," she added. "Both of you want both of [my breasts]. This is a lot of work."

The model also revealed she stopped breastfeeding when her twins were five months old and switched to feeding them formula.

“It felt like I was feeding a nation,” she joked.

“These little guys are so strong and so happy, so I don’t think we should be telling people how they should be feeding their kids,” she explained.

Ashley, who is married to cinematographer Justin Ervin, has shared pictures of her breastfeeding and doting on the couple’s three children on Instagram.

In one candid selfie shared in June 2022, when the twins were around five months old, Ashley can be seen posing while her boys feed from her breasts.

She captioned the post: "Tired. but we’re here."

The post drew lots of praise from women in the comments, who crowned Ashley ‘a force’ and ‘a super mom’.

Actress Freida Pinto commented: “My hero you!”

While Handler wrote: “Omgoodness.”

She'd previously opened up about some of the comments she gets in regards to breastfeeding, telling People in 2022: "I just want people to know that there's there's no one size when it comes to feeding your babies.

"I have championed all kinds of different bodies in fashion and media to be represented, and that's exactly what I want to do here."

Ashley has also never shied away from sharing untouched, unfiltered and candid pictures of her postnatal experience and body on social media.

After welcoming the twins, Ashley shared a mirror selfie on her Instagram page in July 2022, showing her nude post-pregnancy tummy, with her stretch marks clearly visible.

Fans were delighted with the post, with one Instagram user writing: “I love you!!!!!! You make me feel normal and want to embrace all my flaws!!!!”

Ashley was praised for showing off her stretch marks.

During her most recent pregnancy, the supermodel also shared pictures of her growing bump on social media and even dedicated a post to her stretch marks in a nude snap.

Shared in December 2021, the month before she gave birth, Ashley captioned the post: "Justin says my stretch marks look like the tree of life."

We love this!
