Alexandra Burke got emotional during a recent TV appearance as she explained why she’s chosen not to reveal her baby’s name or gender. You can see her open up about her decision here:

The former X-Factor star welcomed her first baby with her footballer fiancé Darren Randolph, 35, in July this year.

The 34-year-old singer announced her pregnancy in February this year after sharing a cute video to her Instagram page.

When the little one was born, Alexandra shared a sweet snap of the newborn’s tiny feet, alongside the caption: "Welcome to the world our little grape. We already love you more than words can say."

However, the couple have chosen to keep the name and gender of their ‘little grape’ private, with Alexandra telling the Loose Women panel that she’s very aware of the impact her fame can have on her family and wants to protect her child from that.

In an emotional exchange, Alexandra explained: “I’ve never really spoken about this. Obviously, I come from X Factor and that’s a public show. I’m very grateful for the platform that’s made me who I am today.

"In the process... I hate getting emotional talking about this. In the process of me being who I am... I asked for all this but my family never.”

Her fellow panelists rushed in to say that Alexandra didn’t need to talk about it if she felt uncomfortable, but she continued: "It just... The impact on them is hard.”

She went on to stress that it was her decision to live a life in the spotlight, but not her family’s so she tried to keep them out of it.

"I want to protect the baby as much as I can and let the baby make its own decision,” she said. “I don’t want to hurt anyone in the process of who I am and the life that I’ve chosen."

Alexandra was comforted and praised by fellow Loose Women Katie Piper and Ruth Langsdale for her attitude, with her previously admitting that she and her partner had struggled to settle on a name for their child.

In an interview with HELLO magazine shortly after she gave birth, she said: "We are still deciding on a name, but we've got a few floating around.

“Ever since I fell pregnant, we've affectionately called the baby 'Grape'. I think some people may have thought that was their name!" Well, I’ve heard worse, to be honest.
