Adam Peaty's ex-girlfriend breaks silence following shock split

Strictly Come Dancing star Adam Peaty’s ex-girlfriend Eiri Munro, 23, has broken her silence after their shock split.

The Olympic swimmer, who was partnered with professional dancer Katya Jones on the BBC dance competition, announced on Tuesday (August 23) that the couple had parted ways after three years together.

Mum-of-one Eiri, who shares two-year-old George with the athlete, took to her Instagram in light of the news and admitted that the next chapter of her life was ‘going to be a difficult one’.

She told her followers: "The last three years have been so, so, amazing. Our little family have experienced so much laughter, love, and joy. You guys have been such a significant part of that.

“This next chapter of my life is surely going to be a difficult one. I would appreciate that people would refrain from commenting, speculating, or messaging.

“I have shared so much of my life, but for now, I am choosing privacy, and I hope that you will all respect that.”

Her comments come hours after swimmer Adam, 27, confirmed their split on Instagram and publicly apologise for ‘letting his partner down’.

The sportsman’s statement read: “Eiri and I have decided to go our separate ways. We have enjoyed a wonderful three years together, two of those with our gorgeous son George.

“Our priority has always been to provide the happiest and healthiest home environment for him, and right now, that means ending our romantic relationship.

“I could not ask for a greater mother for George and I am so grateful to Eiri for her amazing support over the last three years. Eiri and George, I’m sorry for letting you down.

“My only interest is for the well-being of our family at this difficult time, so I ask that our privacy is respected and I won’t be saying anything further.”

Munro last posted a picture with Peaty to her Instagram three days ago from their family holiday to Santorini, Greece and captioned the post: “One more for the memories”.

Last year, the former couple’s relationship came under scrutiny when viewers believed Peaty leaned in for a kiss with Strictly partner Katya Jones at the end of their dance, which the pair vehemently denied.

The three-time Olympic gold medal winner and Jones finished ninth on the series.
