Warning: Major Virgin River spoilers ahead

Virgin River viewers were left in shock this week after Charmaine dropped a major bombshell about the father of her twins.

The fourth season of the Netflix show dropped on the platform earlier this month, and fans have been bingeing the lot ever since.

But following the shock twist of events in the final episode, fans have been taking to social media to discuss a new theory.

To recap, fans were certain that Jack (Martin Henderson) was the father of Charmaine's (Lauren Hammersley) unborn twins, but it turns out there was another man on the scene.

But who could it be?

The truth came out in the season finale when Charmaine fell ill at her and Todd's (Patrick Sabongui) home, and called for help when she started struggling to breathe.

When her ex-boyfriend and supposed father of her children Jack arrived to help, he assured Charmaine that an ambulance was on the way.

But worried that she was going to lose her babies, Charmaine decided to confess to Jack that he isn't actually the dad.

"This is karma, I’m being punished," she told Jack after collapsing on the floor. "It's because I lied. The twins... they're not your babies."

Virgin River fans couldn't believe it when Charmaine revealed the truth.

Fans were utterly gobsmacked - almost as much as Jack himself - but after some careful consideration, they believe they know who the twins' father really is.

Viewers believe there's growing evidence that it could be Mike (Marco Grazzini). When Mike first found out that Charmaine was pregnant with Jack's babies, he was pretty shocked and assumed that she and Jack had broken up.

While many didn't look too much into it at the time, some think there could be more to his response than they first thought.

One person wrote on Twitter: "I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again 'MIKE IS THE FATHER OF CHARMAINES TWINS!!'”

Could Mike be the real father?

Meanwhile another said: "Part of me thinks Mike is the father to Charmagne’s twins & wonders if he is a dirty cop too. #VirginRiver When Jack told him about the pregnancy, he was surprised & said he thought they broke up."

"I mean, obviously Mike is the father of the insufferable Charmaine’s babies, right?", asked another.

Season five cannot come soon enough!

Seasons one to four of Virgin River are available to stream on Netflix now.
