This Morning viewers were divided during Wednesday's episode, when Miriam Margolyes appeared to answer viewers' dilemmas.

The actress and TV personality, 81, sat down with Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield where she responded to agony aunt-style questions from viewers phoning in.

Have a look at the moment Miriam advised one woman to 'lose weight' and 'join Grindr' after she asked for dating advice:

Explaining she doesn't know much about modern dating, Miriam began: "I don't know anything about the dating scene because I've been with my partner for 54 years and for most of it I've been faithful, nearly all of it actually.

"I believe there are dating websites, like Grindr."

Phil interjected: "I'm not entirely sure Leanne would be interested in that one."

"Is that a gay one?" Miriam asked, before Phil explained that it was.

"What you should do, lose a bit of weight darling, if you think you're too fat to have sex lose a bit of weight. Don't eat too much at Christmas, because we all do," Miriam continued.

Miriam also suggested joining a club or volunteering to help disadvantaged or disabled people in a bid to meet others.

Many were shocked at Miriam's comments.

And viewers were shocked at Miriam's comments, with many outraged over her advice. One person wrote: "I normally love Miriam but someone asking her for advice on dating as a plus size woman and she just said to lose weight and make sure you wash like wtf."

Another said: "I don't know how @Schofe and @hollywills kept it together."

Miriam suggested losing weight.

Others couldn't help but be in hysterics at some of Miriam's comments, with another adding: "Well @MMargolyes just totally made my day. 'Are you fat like me?'

“'Don’t eat too much at Christmas. Lose weight and wash, wash all the places you can’t reach'."

And another wrote: "Lose Weight and wash... Absolutely adore Miriam Margolyes, bottle her up and sell for Christmas. Such joy."

Tyla has reached out to ITV and Miriam's rep for comment.
