Louis Theroux has been back on fine form with Forbidden America, with the latest in his three part documentary series observing porn’s #MeToo movement.

Louis, who’s dived deep into the world of porn in several previous documentaries, still found himself treading new ground when he explored how social media, and platforms such as OnlyFans, had revolutionised the porn industry.

And this new episode saw Louis, 51, learn all about a sex act he previously wasn’t familiar with.

Naturally, the Twittersphere loved seeing Louis back at his inquisitive best – even when it meant the national treasure was asking questions he may have been surprised to learn the answer to.

“It's very awkward watching Louis Theroux talk about pegging,” one person wrote. “He's a lovely man but he has the air of putting his hand over his eyes when he walks past Ann Summers.”

The scene did make viewers laugh (

“Louis looking nervous at the mention of pegging,” laughed a second viewer.

“Can we take a moment to realise that we now have a sound bite of Louis Theroux saying ‘with the pegging concluded?’” a third person said.

“Watching a guy explain pegging to Louis Theroux,” said a fourth.

Louis had previously expressed how interested he was to explore porn once more for his latest documentary.

Speaking to Tyla and other press before the season launch, Louis explained: “I was fascinated by the effect #MeToo, which anyone without any real power could contribute to on Twitter, had on the adult entertainment industry.

"The challenge for me here was, as well as recognising all other aspects of this industry, there’s also that outsider judgement of porn – people who work in adult form still experience forms of stigmatisation or discrimination. There’s a real temptation to think, because it’s porn there’s going to be more predators here.

“What I’ve heard, though, is that it’s just the same as everywhere else; just they’ve had trouble getting heard.”

Louis Theroux: Forbidden America is available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
