Real Housewives Of Atlanta Star Kenya Moore Reveals Truth Behind Viral ‘The Ghetto’ Scene

Real Housewives Of Atlanta Star Kenya Moore Reveals Truth Behind Viral ‘The Ghetto’ Scene

Kenya Moore has addressed the white refrigerator in the room and discussed the most viral moment from the Real Housewives of Atlanta.

Real Housewives of Atlanta star Kenya Moore has given the world countless iconic moments, from "Don't come for me unless I send for you" to "Gone with the Wind, fabulous".

Fans will have absolutely no trouble recollecting quotes from the television personality, business owner and mum. However one scene that has had an enduring life on social media involved Kenya and her former co-star Nene Leakes in 'the ghetto'.

Yes, the season six episode in which Nene ventures out of the suburbs to visit Kenya's temporary living situation is all over TikTok, with people finding the music, sirens and white refrigerator absolutely hilarious.

In an exclusive interview with Tyla, Kenya has revealed what really happened in that scene and her thoughts on white refrigerators in the years since.

“Absolutely not. No," Kenya quipped when asked if the scene played out in real life like how fans saw it on screen in 2013.

"It was not in that neighbourhood. I was not in an apartment, I was in a hotel and it was just the sound effects and the horns and all that added to making it so funny.

She added: “It was a very funny moment. I didn’t think it would play like that!

“I was happy I was in a four star hotel while my next home that I was renting while the lease became available because I had moved out of one rental and the other one wasn’t ready. So I think I stayed there [the hotel] for like two weeks until the other one was ready.

"It was literally a two bedroom suite at a four star hotel with a white refrigerator. Like, what is the issue here?"

Kenya also explained her feelings around Nene's 'white refrigerators' line and it may surprise you.

“The thing is I just think it’s silly because some people who watch the show may not even have a working refrigerator at all so I just feel like it’s such an insult because it’s white. It’s just silly to me."

Bravo declined to add additional comment when contacted by Tyla.

Kenya was recently in London to promote the brand new season of Real Housewives of Atlanta which has returned with all the drama fans would expect to see.

Kenya, who is mum to three-year-old daughter Brooklyn, is still going through a divorce with Marc Daly. She has not started dated again because she doesn’t think it would be ‘appropriate at this point’ with the pair still being legally married despite filing for divorce last August.

“I just want to have friends, go out and have fun. I don’t want anything serious right now,” she said.

Filming has already wrapped on the current season and fans most recently saw Kenya and Marlo - who finally got a peach - in another ferocious argument. Unfortunately it seems things have remain extra frosty between the pair.

“No. I don’t think we’ll ever be [on better terms]. It just continuously ends up in the same place of this toxic back and forth. She’s always coming at me and trying to cause drama for no reason and then you know she hits below the belt and it just keeps happening throughout the rest of the season to the point where I’m like, 'I’m just done'.”

Another former Housewife Kenya had a tumultuous friendship with is Porsha Williams, who departed the show before the current season. The pair established a reputation for catty one-liners but Kenya would not necessarily say she is ‘missed’.

Kenya said: “She was a valuable member of our cast and she had a lot of fans, also. But I think that this season is so strong and the stories are so strong and the relationships are so strong that I probably would not say that she’s necessarily missed because of the show.”

The Booty Boot Camp creator also shared her feelings - or lack thereof - ahead of Apollo Nida’s return, who previously accused Kenya of falsely trying to have an affair with him while he was still married to Phaedra Parks, which he later apologised for on the show.

“I didn’t feel anything,” she said. “Listen, people come in and out of the show, people that I will have history or not have history with and good for them.”

It turns out that RHOA fans have a lot to look forward to, including the annual trip this year taking place in Jamaica. “It was full of drama, full of action. It was hilarious and funny. Someone definitely gets severely injured during that trip - I can’t say who - someone gets rushed to the hospital and it's just a really action packed moment by moment situation in Jamaica.”
