When you sign up to join a show like Married At First Sight, you're putting a lot on the line.

What if you and your new partner have nothing in common? What if they have bad breath? Or worst of all, what if they're related to you?

'Surely it couldn't happen', I hear you thinking. But, apparently, it already did.

Contestants Ollie, 26, and Tahnee, 27, both agreed to marry a stranger when they joined the Married At First Sight cast, hoping to be matched up with the partner of their dreams.

At first, when voice-over artist Ollie laid eyes on PR Manager Tahnee at their wedding, there was no issue.

But during the wedding reception, when guests reportedly started to recognise each other, they realised something was off.

Eventually, the newlyweds discovered that Tahnee's brother-in-law is Ollie's second cousin.

If you crunched the numbers on that one, you'll be relieved to discover that Tahnee and Ollie aren't related by blood.

But, 'technically, they are distant relatives in a weird way,' a source close to the couple told Yahoo! Lifestyle.

Even though this marriage is all kosher and there are no incestuous undertones to be worried about, the source did say they're pretty sure Tahnee and Ollie's discovery won't air on the show.

"They laughed about this a few times during filming, but it probably won’t be aired," they suspected.

Tyla has approached Nine for comment.

What viewers did get to see was Ollie and Tahnee falling for one another almost immediately, and it was pretty adorable.

"I felt pretty stoked," Ollie told cameras after meeting his bride-to-be. "She's gorgeous."

In his vows, Ollie told Tahnee: "We will find comfort in each other... and I hope we fall in love too."

And everyone's heart melted.

After the wedding, Tahnee and Ollie jetted off to Fiji for their honeymoon, and let's just say it was an instant connection.

"Ollie and I were intimate last night," Tahnee told cameras the morning after.

"I'm absolutely chuffed."

Thank goodness they're not blood relatives, eh?

So far, things appear to be going well for the happy couple, and viewers are already banking everything on them.

One fan tweeted: "idc about this drama anymore I just wanna see Ollie and Tahnee being cute and in love".

"Omg I actually LOVE Ollie and Tahnee, and they look like they have a genuine connection and lovely personalities," raved a second.

"Give me more Ollie and Tahnee please," begged a third.

The new season of MAFS Australia is well underway down under, but UK viewers will have to wait a few weeks before they can get stuck in.
