The Great British Bake Off has finally revealed when it will be heading back to our screens - and it's so soon!

Announcing the news on its social media on Wednesday (31 August) afternoon, the official Bake Off page finally revealed the news we've all been waiting weeks for.

"In knead of some good news? Here’s a little something," they wrote.

"The Great British Bake Off is back on your screens on Tuesday 13th September at 8pm!"

Alongside the announcement tweet, the show shared a photo of judges Prue Leith and Paul Hollywood taking a selfie along with hosts Noel Fielding and Matt Lucas.

And with less than two weeks until the much loved show is back on our screens, fans couldn't contain their excitement at the news.

One person wrote: "This is the news I’ve been kneading. Thank you!"

While another added: "Aah, Our hearts are a-glaze! The mas-sieve news we've been kneading to hear! All-dough it's taken a while, loaf is good once more & batter days are here again! Muffin compares to the style & ganache brought by the #GBBO gang. Wel-crumb back & don't dessert us again..."

Fans will remember that last year's competition was won by Giuseppe Dell'Anno, with Crystelle Pereira and Chigs Parmar as runners up in the final.

Speaking about winning the baking competition, Giuseppe said: "There are no words, I am speechless for once. All I can think of is the reaction from my mum and dad.

"The fact is that everything I have done to deserve this comes from his heritage, it's the best thank-you note I can possibly send him."

Meanwhile, Paul Hollywood added: "The first time I walked into the tent and in the first signature I saw his mini rolls, I thought, 'That looks like our winner.'

"You could see the heart and soul going into his baking. He has done an incredible job!"

Paul is currently the longest running member of the Bake Off team, having been on the show since it first began way back in 2010. Meanwhile, Prue and Noel joined back in 2017, after the show moved from BBC to Channel 4, and the newest addition to the team - Matt Lucas - joined in 2020 after taking over from Sandi Toksvig.

We wonder who'll leave a lasting impression during this year's competition!

On your marks, set, bake! Bring on 13 September...
