As any beauty fan will tell you, mascaras can be hit or miss; some promise mile-high lashes but actually deliver flaky stumps, while others leave you with panda eyes at the slightest hint of rain.

And if you're looking for a good all-rounder — one that gives length, volume and doesn't budge — it can be like looking for a needle in a haystack.

But one budget mascara is causing a stir online, and far from being a designer product it's from a popular high street brand — and costs under a tenner.

Maybelline

Maybelline's Lash Sensational Sky High mascara is being praised for both its volumising and lengthening properties (erm, did somebody say 'holy grail'?!) and is made with nourishing bamboo extract which means it takes care of your lashes as well as making them look great.

It has a clever, flexible brush which bends around lashes to ensure each one is extended from root to tip — meaning you can ditch the falsies for good.

Of course, it's not the first beauty product to promise the world but in this case we really do think the results speak for themselves; the mascara is currently trending as the top beauty item in the Amazon's ‘bestsellers’ section, and currently priced at just £8.96, it comes with over 27,000 five star reviews from people around the world who can't believe the results.

One happy customer gushed: "Fantastic mascara, people thought I had false lashes on... I have hardly any lashes at all, they are so short and thin but I could not believe how long and thick they looked after using this mascara."

Another person explained they preferred the Maybelline mascara to the designer makeup brands out there, as they wrote: "Throughout the past 15 years of my life, if not longer, I had been using only branded mascaras. Chanel, Dior, Givenchy, YSL, Guerlain. I didn’t like any of them! I always thought that I was not applying mascara properly: how is it possible that luxury brands give me such a poor result?"

They revealed they'd turned to the Maybelline mascara when they had run out before adding: "Initially I didn’t like it, as it gave me slightly unnatural look. But after it dried out on the lashes and a bit of time passed by, I fell in love with it! mascara looks absolutely beautiful on my eyes. It opens up the eye, no spikes, lengthens the eyelashes so much too!! Effect of natural eyelash extensions. My favourite mascara to date. Definitely prefer it to all the ones I’ve ever used. And the cost is so modest compared to what I am used to."

The reviews continue to rave about the effects of the Maybelline Sky High, with many saying how it gives a false lash effect without breaking the bank. Costing just under £10, it's a budget beauty buy but one that promises big results.
