A luxury hotel in the Maldives is hiring an intern to work in its Marine Turtle Rescue Centre for two weeks this August.

The role at the Coco Palm Dhuni Kolhu resort involves one lucky individual looking after the turtles, posting on their social media and going to workshops with one of the UK's leading specialist turtle veterinary surgeons, Dr Claire Petros.

The candidate's responsibilities include feeding the turtles, cleaning tanks and attending rescue missions to collect turtles in need while keeping guests updated on the project during their stay.

It's not all work as the intern will also get the opportunity to partake in a sunset cruise, diving, dolphin watching, and a guided group snorkelling trip in the breath-taking Baa Atoll.

Although the position isn't paid, the successful candidate will have their flights, accommodation in a luxury guest villa, and food at the hotel's Cowrie restaurant covered for the duration of their stay, which would usually cost nearly £5,000.

If this sounds right up your street but you don't have any marine biology experience - don't worry as the position is open to any UK resident over the age of 18 with an interest in turtles and sea life.

However, applicants need to submit a two to three minute-long video, along with a 500-word cover letter explaining why they would be perfect for the internship.

Candidates can apply for the role on the Coco Collection website from 17th June and entries are open until 31st June.

Coco Collection will then create a shortlist of candidates before The Olive Ridley Project selects the winner.
