Kensington Palace has issued a clarification about Kate Middleton and claims regarding her outfits.

The Princess of Wales has been praised by the public for her style choices, however, a Kensington Palace source said earlier this month that she would no longer share details about her clothes publicly.

Since making a slow return to public duties following her cancer treatment, Kate reportedly has a 'new perspective on everything', and has noted how much she appreciates the 'simple yet important things in life.'

A Kensington Palace source told The Sunday Times it will stop revealing details of Kate's fashion choices for the foreseeable future.

They said: "There is an absolute feeling that it is not about what the princess is wearing.

"She wants the focus to be on the really important issues, the people and the causes she is spotlighting."

Although the Princess, 43, knows that 'there will always be an appreciation' of what she is wearing 'from some of the public', she would like her fashion choices to become less of the focus.

The source added: "Do we need to be officially always saying what she is wearing? No. The style is there but it's about the substance."

A Kensington Palace spokesperson has now issued clarification regarding this matter.

“Over the last week, I have received numerous questions about a story regarding The Princess of Wales’s clothing and how Kensington Palace shares information about her outfits,” they told GB News.

“To clarify, the comments that appeared in the article were from me, not The Princess of Wales.

"The comments that were reported should not be directly attributed to The Princess of Wales.

“To be clear, there has been no change in our approach to sharing information about Her Royal Highness’s clothing."

The 'Kate Middleton effect'

Kate has seemingly become an unintentional influencer. A trend known as the 'Kate effect' describes Her Majesty's impact on fashion and beauty. When she wears a particular garment, accessory, hairstyle or makeup, it often leads to a significant uptick in sales of those items.

Her style is often regarded as elegant yet accessible. She's known for wearing clothes from the high street brand Zara, including a £60 red tweed double-breasted blazer which sold out once people found out where it was from. She wore the blazer Portage Session as part of her 'Shaping Us' campaign on September 27, 2023. Kate has actually worn this piece a number of times over the years.

There's also a Kate Middleton Style Blog - which is unaffiliated with the princess herself - detailing all of her outfits, as well as her Zara obsession.
