Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has finally provided people with an explanation behind his rather peculiar gym attire after sparking a huge debate online.
The 71-year-old US Secretary of Health and Human Services has become well-known on social media for pumping iron or going on outdoor hikes, wearing something that has left many people well and truly baffled.
It's clear RFK Jr. isn't fussed about tracksuit bottoms, sport shorts, or training pants as he much prefers donning denim when it comes to working out.
And just last month, he shared a picture of himself and his son out in the Arizona desert, with RFK Jr. wearing just a t-shirt and jeans, and even more questions were raised when he shared a video of himself during a pull-up and push-up competition wearing a pair of jeans.
Speaking about the outfit choice during an interview on Fox News' Jesse Watters Primetime on Tuesday, the former Democrat explained that it has simply become a matter of habit.
Some critics hit out over RFJ Jr. wearing jeans to hike in (Instagram/@robertfkennedyjr) "Well, I just started doing that a long time ago because I would go hiking in the morning and then I’d go straight to the gym, and I found it was convenient, and now I’m used to it, so I just do it," he explained.
The host aptly responded: "Okay, there were a lot of theories, but that makes perfect sense."
His attire raised many eyebrows online, with one social media user wondering: "Isn’t it a bit unhygienic to wear jeans, especially those you’ve worn while hiking, in a gym?"
"The next question… why would you wear jeans to hiking?" questioned a second, while a third chimed in: "Hiking in jeans is diabolical."
Others, however, clearly didn't see any issue with wearing jeans for a hike.
He just said that he'd 'gotten used' to wearing jeans while working out (Instagram/@robertfkennedyjr) One person claimed that jeans are the 'most appropriate' attire for hiking in the great outdoors, while another declared: "Wearing jeans when hiking or doing anything else is not at all odd in Colorado."
RFK Jr. is well known for his extremely controversial and unfounded claims surrounding what he calls the 'autism epidemic' - something which he has previously pledged to 'eliminate' in just a few months.
He is also known for his staunch anti-vaccine views and has spread debunked claims that vaccines cause autism.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has previously explained that several studies have investigated whether there is a connection between vaccines and autism and 'to date, the studies continue to show that vaccines are not associated with' autism.
