Michelle Obama made a major claim about what Melania Trump did the first time she and her husband, Donald Trump, moved into White House.

In her memoir Becoming, Michelle revealed she previously reached out to Melania during Trump's first term in 2017 to let her know she was on hand if she needed assistance.

This was because her predecessor, Laura Bush, wife of George W Bush, had extended her help to her when Michelle herself was the incoming First Lady back in 2009 during Barack Obama's term, remarking that if she needed her help, she was 'a phone call away'.

She revealed, however, that Melania had yet to take her up on the offer.

In 2018, Michelle was asked ABC News’ Robin Roberts: "Has [Melania] reached out and asked?”

"No," she replied. "No, she hasn’t.

Stephanie Grisham, Melania's communications director, said in a statement to CNN that her client did not require Michelle’s assistance.

"Mrs. Trump is a strong and independent woman who has been navigating her role as First Lady in her own way," Grisham wrote at the time.

"When she needs advice on any issue, she seeks it from her professional team within the White House."

Current First Lady, Jill Biden, has also reflected on her time in the role as she prepares to leave the White House, opening up about her upcoming replacement reportedly declining an invitation to a 'customary' event.

In an exit interview with the Washington Post, Jill revealed Melania did not attend a tea she had invited her to at the White House - a long-held tradition for incoming and outgoing first ladies during the presidential transition.

This prompted Jill to then give Trump a note to pass along to his wife.

"I congratulated her and I offered help," Jill said of the note, but didn't end up hearing back from Melania until Jimmy Carter's state funeral last week (9 January) when Melania thanked Jill 'during pleasantries'.

Tyla has reached out to the Trump transition team for comment.

We're just a few days away from Donald Trump assuming the presidency, with his inauguration ceremony set to take place on Monday (20 January).

However, the Office of Barack and Michelle Obama has since confirmed that Michelle will not accompany her husband to the event.

"Former President Barack Obama is confirmed to attend the 60th Inaugural Ceremonies. Former first lady Michelle Obama will not attend the upcoming inauguration," the statement reads.

The Office has not elaborated further on why the mother-of-two will not be in attendance at the event.

Tyla has previously reached out to the Office of Barack and Michelle Obama for further comment.
