During her father Donald Trump's first term as President of the United States, his daughter Ivanka Trump was by his side as one of his advisors.

During his first term in office, Ivanka, who is the POTUS's only daughter with his first wife, Ivana Trump, served as his Director of the Office of Economic Initiatives and Entrepreneurship.

According to an archive on The White House's website, her role was to focus on 'education and economic empowerment of women and their families', as well as 'job creation and economic growth through workforce development, skills training and entrepreneurship'.

However, in the run-up to Trump's inauguration for his second term in the White House, it soon became clear that Ivanka was not planning to return for a second stint - a sentiment which she has repeatedly made clear since 2022, when her father announced his third run for presidency, CNN reported.

Appearing on an episode of the Him & Her Show in January, days before the inauguration, Ivanka revealed that she would be stepping away from serving in her father's administration.

"I love policy and impact. I hate politics. And unfortunately, the two are not separable,” she said. "There is a darkness to that world that I don’t really want to welcome into mine.

“The main reason I am not going back to serve now is I know the cost, and it’s a price that I’m not willing to make my kids bear."

When explaining her feelings regarding her dad's upcoming presidency, Ivanka noted that she wanted to be there for him as a daughter rather than an advisor.

She said: "I think I’m most looking forward to just being able to show up for him as a daughter and be there for him to take his mind off things, to watch a movie with him, or watch a sports game.

"To know that he can be with me and be himself and just relax and for me to be able to provide that for him in a very loving way as his daughter."

Ivanka described the job of president as being 'the world’s loneliest position', adding: "The enormity of the decisions you’re making on a daily basis, transactional everyone is with you… it’s a very lonely perch."

Talking about her future work and the importance of family, the 43-year-old said: "Hopefully I’ll live a life that continues to be impactful, regardless of where I do it."

However, The Independent reports that Ivanka has since made an appearance at a few of her father's events, with her most recent outing having been at the Joint Address to Congress, which occurred on 5 March.

Ivanka's stepmother and Trump's third wife, Melania, also revealed where she would be spending her time during her husband's presidency.

Speaking to Fox & Friends, she said: "I will be in the White House.

"And, you know, when I need to be in New York, I will be in New York. When I need to be in Palm Beach, I will be in Palm Beach.

"But my first priority is, you know, to be a mom, to be a First Lady, to be a wife. And once we are in on Jan. 20, you serve the country."
