Barack Obama has sparked rumours he could be running for US President again after sharing a cryptic social media teaser.

The 64-year-old Democrat served as the 44th President of the United States for two terms, from January 20, 2009, through to January 20, 2017, with his wife Michelle Obama as First Lady.

He was preceded by the current US President, Republican leader Donald Trump, who was in the role for a term before Joe Biden rose to victory and took over in 2021.

Then, as we all know, Trump was elected to a second, non-consecutive term in 2024, which started last year and is ongoing.

The next presidential election, to choose the 61st leader of the country, is due to be held on November 7, 2028.

Of course, this means it's way too early to know who will be running, especially since Trump will have served out two terms, which is the limit set by the Constitution.

And while this is the same situation for Obama, fans have taken his latest social media post to mean otherwise.

The politician featured in a mysterious video posted on Sunday (15 March) by the Obama Foundation, which was captioned simply with an eyes emoji and the text: "Any guesses, fam?"

Meanwhile, the clip itself shows Obama getting a slew of notifications on his phone, while a cameraperson says, "We're so excited to talk to you about the Obama Presidential Center today."

Obama replied with "Got it," but continued staring at his phone, before adding: "Hold on one second. I can't believe I'm still dealing with this."

The former president declared, "I've got some unfinished business," and got up to look outside.

The cryptic video, which has racked up more than 1.5 million views, has got fans guessing exactly what it could mean, with some suggesting the idea of an unheard-of third term.

One X user penned: "@BarackObama Don't you wanna save the USA and be the president again?"

While a second wrote: "My heart just leapt for joy. Please tell me he's coming back. Kamala and Barack??? Could it be??"

And a third joked: "Alexa, play 'My President' by Young Jeezy."

"President Obama still looking good. Hope they find some way to allow two-term presidents to run for a third term," quipped a fourth.

Meanwhile, a fifth demanded: "He will be the one with a third and fourth term! We need him!"

But, unfortunately, no matter how many people want Obama to be President again, there's pretty much no chance it can happen.

The 22nd Amendment to the US Constitution states that 'no person shall be elected to the office of the president more than twice'.

So, with the politician being prohibited from seeking another term, unless there's a huge change to the Constitution coming anytime soon, it simply won't be happening.

Sorry to disappoint!
