Wife of missing TV doctor Michael Mosley breaks silence as search continues in Greece

Wife of missing TV doctor Michael Mosley breaks silence as search continues in Greece

Dr Clare Bailey Mosley has issued a statement after his disappearance

The wife of Dr Michael Mosley, the British TV presenter who went missing in Greece on Wednesday, has issued a statement.

The health journalist, 67, was last seen going for a walk on Greek island Symi on 5 June.

According to CCTV footage, Mosley was spotted at a grey-stoned house nearby the harbour shortly after leaving his wife at the beach at 13:30 local time.

At 7:30pm, Dr Clare Bailey Mosley told officials that her husband had not returned from his outdoor walk.

Earlier today (8 June), Dr Bailey Mosley issued an emotional statement to the BBC, which read: "It has been three days since Michael left the beach to go for a walk.

"The longest and most unbearable days for myself and my children.

"The search is ongoing and our family are so incredibly grateful to the people of Symi, the Greek authorities and the British Consulate who are working tirelessly to help find Michael. We will not lose hope."

The mayor said that firefighters searched a four-mile radius of the area at 6am, with still no sign of Mosley.

Mr Papakaloudoukas said there's been 'nothing, nothing', and that the area is 'very dangerous'.

But he hopes the presenter is found 'safe and alive', adding: "All the community is so sad about this, (it has) never happened before."

The search remains ongoing as the rescue workers are looking high and low in the mountainous area.

The mayor speculated that the presenter may have walked along a steep uphill concrete road.

And at the end of the street, he may have gone up a small path, which leads into the rocky landscape with no surrounding infrastructure.

The mayor’s daughter, Mika Papakalodouka, told the PA news agency: “It is a small island, people talk. We’re good people actually here. Everybody is looking for him.

“It’s such a small island to get lost on.

"It’s so weird for us. Everybody is worried and looking for him.”

The mayor said there is 'no chance' that the search is going to get called off, until Mosely is found.

The broadcaster has been working with the BBC since 1985 and is known for making numerous appearances on The One Show.

In 2021, he presented Lose a Stone in 21 Days for Channel 4, promoting what he calls a healthy lifestyle, consisting of intermittent fasting and a keto diet.
