A renowned Hollywood set director, Mary Kate Golding, was tragically found dead at home in a suspected murder-suicide.

Golding, 34, was discovered with a stab wound at her home in Queens, New York.

Police had been called to the property at just after midnight on Tuesday.

Authorities released a statement about the incident: "On Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at approximately 0024 hours, police responded to a 911 call of an assault inside of 18-64 41 Street, within the confines of the 114 Precinct."

"Upon arrival, officers observed a 34-year-old female victim with a stab wound to the back. EMS responded and pronounced the victim deceased on the scene.”

Several hours later, her husband, Joseph Azzaretto, was found dead in what appeared to be suicide at Astoria Park, according to multiple media reports.

The couple had a baby son together, who was found unharmed in their home.

Golding was known for her work on several hit shows and films and had built up an impressive career over the years.

She worked as a set director for the smash-hit comedy series The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, as well as Goosebumps. Hawkeye and Mr. and Mrs. Smith.

Her credits also included Marry Me, The Big Sick, and Meet Cute, and she was due to begin work on Sean Durkin’s upcoming film Deep Cuts.

After graduating from NYU in 2015, she also worked on Time After Time, An Imperfect Murder, Cruise, Deception, Gotham, Lisey’s Story and The Flight Attendant.

Following the discovery of her husband, NYPD said: “On Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at approximately 0639 hours, police responded to a 911 call of an unconscious person in the vicinity of Astoria Park South and Shore Boulevard, within the confines of the 114th Precinct."

"Upon arrival, officers discovered an unidentified male, approximately 30 to 35 years of age, unconscious and unresponsive inside the park. EMS responded and pronounced the male deceased on scene.”

Police have not publicly confirmed his identity or announced a motive, but a reported police source told PEOPLE it was a 'possible murder-suicide' involving her husband.

According to Variety, many years ago Azzaretto’s brother shot and killed their father, Frank Azzaretto, during a fight with his mother.

The investigation is ongoing.
