Cleo Smith's First Words After Police Found Her Alive In Locked House

Cleo Smith's First Words After Police Found Her Alive In Locked House

This is incredible news.

Police in Australia have revealed the first words of missing four-year-old Cleo Smith after she was rescued by authorities this week.

WA Police broke into a locked property in Carnarvon - just a seven minute drive from her family home - at around 1am, where they found Cleo in one of the rooms. One of the officers picked Cleo up and asked: "What's your name?" To which she answered: "My name is Cleo."

Authorities also shared the emotional moment they rescued the little one, after she had been missing for 18 days.

You can watch the clip below:

Cleo had been missing for over two weeks after vanishing in the middle of the night from a campsite where she was staying with family.

In the clip, Cleo can be seen being carried by a police officer, while another officer introduces himself and asks: "Are you okay?"

Cleo nods before the officer says: "We're going to take you to see your mummy and daddy, ok?"

After she was rescued, the youngster was reunited with her parents shortly afterwards. Police confirmed they have a 36-year-old man in custody who is currently being questioned. Authorities say he has no connection to the Smith family.

ABC News reported that a man at the address had been spotted by a neighbour buying nappies. "The other day - on Monday - we saw him in Woolworths buying Kimbies [nappies] and that," they said.

"But we didn't click on what he was buying them for."

Cleo vanished from her family's tent in the Australian Outback last month. The family were staying at a campsite near Macleoad, but when they woke at 6am, Cleo had disappeared.

Investigators feared Cleo could have been abducted due to the fact the tent zip would have been too high for Cleo to open herself. It was also reported that up to 20 known sex offenders live in the area, and a car was heard screeching near the campsite.

Cleo's mum, Ellie Smith posted an update on Instagram, writing: "Our family is whole again."
