A hero mum who saved her daughter from a drunk driver has spoken out about her terrifying ordeal.

Becky Sharp was walking her daughter Lorena in Bournemouth when the horror crash took place.

The 36-year-old was passing through the Redhill area last April when Dale Clark, 38, drove through the 30mph zone at 40mph.

Acting fast, Becky shoved the pram out of the way, allowing her daughter to escape injury.

She however, ended up in a coma for eight weeks and spent time in a rehabilitation centre.

Clark drove off, leaving the mum-of-three for dead.

"Your world just falls apart"

Her life changing injuries included brain trauma and multiple fractures.

Speaking on This Morning to Ben Shepherd and Cat Deeley, Becky opened up about the terrifying incident one year on.

Asked whether the footage of the crash 'registered' with her, Becky responded: "Thankfully...kind of thankfully, I don't have any memory of the accident.

"That's one benefit out of the brain injury, I guess."

"There was a huge amount of uncertainty"

Becky's husband Dan was also sat on the This Morning sofa and shared his memory of the day.

He said: "Your world just falls apart.

"I spoke to the police officer and he said 'Your wife is very poorly'.

"I knew they didn't say that for no reason, so it was very touch and go."

Dan went and picked up Lorena, and headed over to Southampton, where his wife had been airlifted.

Ben asked the devoted husband how he coped in the weeks and months after the crash.

Dan responded: "There was a huge amount of uncertainty, there's no guarantees with brain injuries.

"After two weeks they removed the sedation medication.

"It was very gradual progress, from opening eyes and small hand movements.

"Becky's been so good throughout it."

While appearing on the show, Dan revealed he'd ran in the London Marathon to raise money for Brain Research UK.

Holding up his medal proudly, he said: "It feels like a bit of a full circle thing, really.

"Before the accident, I was about to run the Manchester marathon but I didn't get to run it obviously.

"But to run for Brain Research UK, they're the largest funder of brain research in the UK, and all of the research they do feeds the professionals and informs that care.

"So far, we've managed to raise around £19,000."

Ben spoke for many viewers at home when he laid praise on Becky: "It's a testament to the life force in you and wanting to be around for your girls."

Clark was jailed for three-and-a-half years at Bournemouth Crown Court.
