TikTok trends have a way of resonating with the heartbroken, and this one is no different.

Whether you’re a fan of Taylor Swift or not (but why aren’t you a fan?), you’ve got to admit that her bops are bopping.

One in particular has now started off a term called ‘Augusted’, and the meaning is perfect for this summer for those who have loved and lost.

Swift's song 'August' is all about a person called Augustine who is brutally heartbroken over her summer fling called James.

Now, the TikTok term is being used to describe the feeling of a magically short romance which ends in smoke.

The song is from Swift’s 2020 album Folklore, which focuses on three people: James, Betty, and Augustine.

It’s really a love triangle type of situation, where songs ‘Betty’ and ‘Cardigan,’ talk about the love between James and Betty while ‘August’ is Augustine’s point of view as she watches on the sidelines after having had a fling with James, who decides he prefers Betty.

So now, there’s an 'Augusted' hashtag for all those who can share their August love stories and how they ended.

It’s also turned into a phrase called ‘getting Augusted’, which describes someone who falls for a person, only to be left on the sidelines as they choose someone else.

With so many people all feeling the same and having experienced the same heart ache over losing the one they thought would be their soulmate to another person, it’s quite a sad trend.

It’s not like T-Swift is a stranger to heartbreak, which is probably why her songs hit that much harder.

With her release of The Tortured Poets Department, we got to feel even more hurt than ever before, and I mean, you’ve heard the songs about Joe Jonas and Harry Styles, right?

Well, these were even better (Thanks, Joe Alwyn).

34-year-old Taylor’s lyrics were sharper than ever before, and much to Matty Healy’s dismay, took aim at their triss.

In one instance, it hit back at people who tried to get her to break up with him.

The lyrics includes: "God save the most judgmental creeps / Who say they want what's best for me / Sanctimoniously performing soliloquies I’ll never see / Thinking it can change the beat of my heart when he touches me."

But then can the symphony of Travis Kelce and boy, you can hear the difference he’s made to her lyrics.

She sang: "Now I'm dancin' in my dress in the sun and / Even my daddy just loves him / I'm his lady / And, oh my God, you should see your faces / Time, doesn't it give some perspective? / And, no, you can't come to the wedding / I know it's crazy, but he's the one I want."
