The Rum Diary actress returned to the stand at Fairfax County Courthouse for a cross-examination in which she was asked questions by Depp's lawyer Camille Vasquez.

“Mr Depp hasn’t looked at you once this entire trial, has he?” the lawyer asked.

Heard replied: “Not that I’ve noticed, no.”

Vasquez stated that Heard had looked at Depp while in court before asking the actress to explain alleged reason why the 58-year-old won’t look back.

Spectators across social media are largely divided over Depp's body language. While some argue that his decision to avoid eye contact is a tactic, others are convinced it's a sign of a domestic abuse victim forced to face their abuser in court.

Julie Grant, lawyer and host of Court TV, spoke to Good Morning Britain last month following Heard’s testimony, which included allegations of domestic abuse. Grant said: “Him looking down most of the time was concerning.”

Compared to Depp's time on the stand at the start of the ongoing trial, Heard watched Depp intensely.

Meanwhile, barrister Dr Charlotte Proudman accused Depp of ‘smiling’ at his ex-wife as she shared details of an alleged sexual assault.

Depp’s libel trial against Heard over a 2018 article in The Washington Post continued this week after a week-long break.

On Monday, Vasquez presented pictures taken in the days after the alleged domestic abuse happened as well as a clip from her interview on The Late Late Show With James Corden in December 2015. However there were no signs of bruising, or swelling. Heard claimed she used makeup to disguise her injuries.

Vasquez also questioned the Aquaman actress about her pledge to donate her full $7 million (£5,613,300) divorce settlement to the ACLU and the Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles.

She admitted that despite claiming under oath in Depp’s 2020 libel case against The Sun that she had made the donations, she has not made the contribution.

The trial continues later today.
