Woman is praised for getting a refund on ex-boyfriend's Christmas gifts

There's nothing worse than buying a Christmas gift for your partner only to break up and be stuck with a pair of boxers and empty wallet.

There's nothing worse than buying a present for your partner, only to fall out in the build-up to Christmas and be stuck with a pair of boxers and empty wallet.

But rather than just giving the gift to them anyway, one woman decided to simply return the items to the shop and get herself a refund.

Prepare to scream, 'Yasss Queen':

Present-buying is a hard enough task as it is. You spend hours deliberating over what you can possibly buy your partner - men notoriously hard to buy for - have to hunt it down, spend more money than you probably want to on it and then you also run the risk of them not liking it.

Not only that, but you also run the risk of not even making it to Christmas with them. Ariana Grande might have sung to Santa about finding her someone special this Christmas, but with the festive season as chaotic and tense as it is, sometimes couples don't make it through the winter season.

If you do break up before the big day, you're left with the awkward conversation of whether or not to just hand over the gifts - they were meant for one another after all - or, like this woman, you can decide to turn your back on the relationship once and for all and say hello to self-love and care.

The woman got nearly £50 back from returning the items.

In the video, posted by user @joshh_daniel, a woman can be seen at a shop counter with her receipt, returning items which come to a total of £45.45.

The caption reads: "When you get dumped before the holidays."

Despite the woman returning the items, the pair hug at the end, holding onto a bit of Christmas spirit.

People have since flooded to the comments to share their own experiences, with one woman explaining how despite her and her ex breaking up, she still gave him his present because they were 'friends with benefits'.

But one person shared: "I sold a PS5, and another wrote: "I felt that I walked in on my ex with his ex four days before Christmas."

The woman has received widespread praise online for her decision to return the gifts.

Loads of TikTokers have also rushed to praise the woman for her decision.

One said: "Period sis get that money."

"Girl I'm with you," another wrote.

A third commented: "Yes girl this is why you always keep your receipts. Now go buy yourself some nice things."

While a final resolved: "Go ahead queen."
