Shein shopper spots hilarious mistake on website

Shein shopper spots hilarious mistake on website

Fast-fashion giant Shein is no stranger to controversy

Fast-fashion giant Shein is no stranger to controversy but at least its latest blunder has brought smiles to shoppers' faces.

Shein, an online retailer favoured by Gen-Z audiences, is notorious for its low prices and becoming embroiled in various trademark disputes.

Just recently, the brand went viral after a shopper allegedly found that her Shein purse had been lined with cardboard from a Covid-19 testing kit.

The TikToker shared her discovery on the video sharing platform and captioned it: "Caught me off guard @SHEIN, recycling slay."

That's certainly one way to look at it - and shoppers were in disbelief.

But the latest blunders that have the internet cracking up revolve around supposed Photoshop fails.

Just yesterday (30 May), an ad being run by Shein that was promoting a pair of 'Minimalist two-part slide sandals' went viral - but not for reasons the retailer would have hoped.

The picture, uploaded to the brand's official social media site and website, was of a pair of feet donning the sandals.

Viewers erupted into hysterics after noticing a huge fail.

It appeared that rather than use a normal pair of feet with a real pedicure, the toes of the 'model' had been Photoshopped with abnormally large white squares in a bid to mimic nail polish.

Very questionable indeed - though it did have viewers 'screaming' in delight.

But of course, the antics don't stop there.

Eagle-eyed shoppers have noticed yet another case of bad editing, this time when browsing the Shein website.

TikToker Nina @ninadozy who often uploads 'Shein photoshop fails' onto her platform, drew attention to photographs of a woman wearing a black dress and pointed to various edited parts of the image.

This included making her bottom look bigger, thus warping the chair she was sat on.

Parts of the wall were also bent due to image reshaping as well as the windowsill.

While it's easy to laugh at bad in-house editing, it cannot be overstated how much of a negative effect it can have on vulnerable women to be faced with unrealistic body standards.

The criticism faced for the altering of images follows shoppers slamming the company for allegedly 'sexualising young girls' while promoting the item 'Tween Girls' Floral Print Tank Top And Shorts Activewear Set'.

The overlay text on the images reads: "The secret to slimming down. Butt lift: flatters curve and enhances support."

Tyla has reached out to Shein for comment.
