Woman reveals partner’s reaction to her dad buying her Valentine's card and people are not happy

People on Reddit have hit out over the bloke's 'revolting' response

Couples across the globe will, no doubt, be celebrating Valentine's Day this Friday and all the romantic meals, heart-shaped chocolate and floral bouquets antics that come with it.

And, while gift card companies heavily double-down on the relationship-y side of things come February 14th - it's clear many of us also treat other loved ones in your lives on the special day.

However, one bloke clearly found this quite the affront after one woman revealed her partner’s reaction to her dad buying her a Valentine's Day card and people are seriously not happy with the 'revolting' response.

The woman took to Reddit earlier this week, sharing on the 'Am I The A**hole' thread a little more about her far-from-fairytale ordeal.

She titled the post: "My 26F Dad buys me a Valentine's card every year. My 28M Partner has an issue with it, we have a 5 month old baby and been together for 16 months.

"What are your thoughts?"

Thankfully, the people in the comments unanimously thought the husband was in the wrong with one hitting out: "Well this one is easy. Your boyfriend is an idiot."

"Your partner is a dipsh*t," agreed a second while a third echoed: "Tell your partner REDDIT said he’s a petty dipsh*t. Is he jealous of your dad ? How ridiculous."

A fourth warned: "Inscecure dipsh*t. Imagine how he’s going to behave when you correspond with any man you’re not related to. Prepare for the future."

"Your dad is caring enough to send you a card for Valentine’s Day, your BF is just insecure, maybe think about your future with him," urged another.

Someone else wrote: "Your partner is an insecure fool and is worried they have to step up their game in order to compete with dad, Lol. How can he possibly slack off on this holiday if even your father is kind enough to remember?

"Marry someone more like your dad and less like your partner, is my advice."

"Boyfriend doesn't want to have to live up to the standard dad has set. He's feeling very insecure. Find one more like dad," another chimed in.

And a final Redditer added: "He has an 'issue' with it? What is the 'issue'?

"Because my Reddit addled brain leaps to two possibilities: he considers you his property so how dare your dad send a valentine to his woman; or he’s sexualising your relationship with your father.

"Both of these are obviously revolting."

Agreed.
