Everyone's favourite podcast, NewlyWeds, had listeners in floods of tears when hosts Jamie Laing and Sophie Habboo read out an emotional engagement story.

The hosts, who are also a married couple that met on reality TV show Made in Chelsea, launched their podcast (which was called NearlyWeds back then) in April 2022.

Since then, the podcast has gone from strength to strength, discussing the ups and downs of wedded life and having a star-studded lineup of guests.

The hosts broke down in tears as they read a heartbreaking proposal story on 28 April.

Jamie shared that the listener has been with their boyfriend for almost six years, but had first met at just 11-years-old.

A year into their relationship, they had to go into lockdown as a result of the pandemic.

They then chose to 'lockdown' together.

Jamie continues reading: "It was during this time that my amazingly brave dad got diagnosed with Parkinson's disease.

"The years that followed turned out to be the hardest years of my life.

"Juggling work and being a carer full-time."

The story continues: "I'd been teasing my boyfriend about getting married but I knew it wasn't the right time as my focus was making sure my dad felt comfy and safe in the last year of his life.

"I knew dad loved my boyfriend as his only communication with us at the end was a thumbs up.

"And he would always do that to my boyfriend when he came to see him."

Sophie then begins to cry.

Jamie continues: "Very sadly but extremely peacefully, my dad passed away on the 5th November 2023 with me.

"I was extremely emotional but had come downstairs on the morning of my birthday to see a story book my boyfriend had made of our life together.

"It tipped me over the edge."

With tears in his eyes, Jamie then has to pause as he admits he's struggling to get through it.

Nevertheless, he continues: "On the last page of the book, was a picture of him on one knee.

"Two weeks before my dad died, my boyfriend had a moment with my dad alone, told him his plan, and my dad gave him the strongest thumbs up he'd ever given him."

Somebody please grab the tissues because we're sobbing.

The story has gone viral, with the clip gaining over 200,000 likes on the NewlyWeds TikTok profile.

Viewers have flooded the comments with emotional messages.

One person wrote: "I think this has got to be one of the most beautiful things I’ve heard."

A second person added: "Omg crying my eyes out. That is so incredibly amazing. What respect for that man to do that."

A third person chimed: "My whole body just got goose bumps."
