A woman has said that parents shouldn't be given priority for annual leave 'just because they have kids'.

We all deserve a break once in a while, and for many of us that have a job where working on holidays such as Christmas Day is possibility, we look to try and book it off.

One TikToker, who goes by the name of Callie (@_cal_cifer), got into a heated discussion surrounding annual leave.

She was replying to a comment from a follower who said that parents should be given priority to annual leave, especially during the school holidays.

But Callie totally disagreed, saying that parents should not get priority 'just because they have kids'.

She added: "If the week of spring break for your kids school is so important to you because you are planning a family trip you need to show initiative and take that time off."

The comeback video stemmed from an earlier clip where Callie talked about an experience with her co-workers who believed that parents should have priority when it comes to annual leave.

She claims she was approached by a parent who asked to swap holidays with her so she could have Thanksgiving and Black Friday off, which Callie had booked off 'a year in advance.

Callie said: "A few years ago when I was still working front desk at the hotel I got into this really big argument with one of my co-workers.

The TikToker says that the mum-of-two - who was around ten years older than her - originally approached the supervisor to ask for those days off on the week of the celebration.

"She was told no because it was so last minute. My manager then approaches me and asks if I would be willing to give my days off for her and I say no."

She said that parents shouldn't be priortised for annual leave.

"He gets livid, telling me that she's a parent and she deserves that time with her kids. I tell him no again.

"So now he's mad and then she approaches me the next day and then tells me that I need to give my time off for her because she wants to spend the holiday with her kids."

But Callie stood her ground and said that while she understood, she had booked the days off months in advance.

She then recalls the alleged reply she got from her colleague: "You have no idea how hard it is. You don't have kids so Thanksgiving is just another day for you. Why can't you just let me have it? Why do you want to take memories away from my kids?"

In a follow-up video, Callie provided a personal experience with her co-worker.

People reacted to the story in the comments, with one person saying: "Parents are the most entitled group of people I've ever had to deal with at the workplace."

While a second person argued: "Child free people still have families. My nieces and nephews want me there on holidays. People can be so selfish honey I’m sorry."

And a third said: "Just because you don’t have children- doesn’t mean you don’t have family and loved ones to see!!!"
