Restaurant called out for adding ‘insane’ and ‘ridiculous’ discount for parents

People were extremely divided on the matter

A restaurant has been called out for adding an 'insane' and 'ridiculous' discount for parents.

Now, you'd think getting a couple of extra quid knocked off your meal would never be a point of controversy but it's clear this eatery's discount policy really rubbed some people up the wrong way.

A diner took to Reddit to share a snap of their receipt showing the discount in question and social media users haven't held back with their thoughts on the matter.

The picture showed a £6.72 discount to the bill with the corresponding reference reading 'Well Behaved Kids'.

They captioned the image: "This restaurant gives you a discount if you have well behaved kids."

People rushed into the comments section to share their reactions, with many totally outraged by it.

"As someone who has what people continue to refer to as a 'well-behaved' baby, I think this is really stupid. Kids are people; they're human beings, and not all of them are going to be 'well-behaved' all the time. That's life," slammed one parent.

People were completely divided by the discount.

Another hit out: "This is insane and dumb for a restaurant. Having someone make a judgement call on every single table with kids (unless it's a literal guarantee to make them come back) is ridiculous."

"What if the family gets the discount, comes back, and then doesn't get it? Manager will probably get involved," questioned a third.

Others, however, seemingly loved the idea.

One Reddit user speculated: "It's probably illegal to charge extra for unruly kids. So put the extra charge on the basic kids meal price then give a 'discount' for everyone well behaved."

A second penned: "I wonder what the breaking point for the boss was that made him implement this promotion."

"I would absolutely 100 percent give a massive discount to well-behaved children at my job..." admitted someone else, while another chimed in: "Insert entitled parents who have horribly behaved kids but know that discount exists.

"They sure as hell will fight the manager so they can get a discount for their angels."

One user echoed: "I was just thinking they should put a sign up in the restaurant saying, 'Well-behaved kids get a discount'. That way, those who don’t get the discount know."

"I imagine some family knowing about the discount, complaining after not getting the discount after their hellhounds misbehave the whole time," quipped another.

And a final Reddit user wondered: "Can this be applied to just tables in general? I’ve had many more nights ruined because of s**t behaviour from adults than kids."

What do you make of it?
