We're not alone!

Have you ever woken up from a dream so vivid or bizarre that you simply had to turn to your phone to look up what it might mean?

The subconscious mind is a weird and wonderful place, but it can create some really strange images and ideas in our heads while we sleep.

If you've been having odd dreams as of late, then don't worry too much. New research has determined the most common dreams in the UK and it's made us feel a lot better about ours!

According to research by Mornings.co.uk, the most commonly searched dream in the UK is about your teeth falling out.

Across the UK, the freaky dream is Googled upwards of 41,000 times per month as people try to get to the bottom of it.

But what does dreaming about tooth loss actually mean?

One study by the University of Colorado found that people who had this dream “were significantly more anxious and depressed, had lower ego strength, were less satisfied with their lives, felt they had less control over their lives, and felt helpless more often than the control subjects who dreamt of flight.”

Having the dream could also mean that you're going through a period of self-doubt, frustration, or fear.

The second most common dream experienced by UK sleepers is of snakes, and number three on the list is hair.

According to the research, most countries across the world dream of snakes more than any other topic. Of the 52 countries surveyed, more than one third most commonly dreamt of the slippery reptile.

Dreaming of snakes could mean that your subconscious is warning you about something in your life that you're not aware of. It could also represent hidden fears of worries.

But across countries that are actually inhabited by the scaled serpents, a snake is just a snake.

The UK's more common tooth loss dream isn't that obscure, though. Dreaming of losing your teeth is the second most searched dream in the world, and is also the number one most common in 16 other countries, including Australia, Canada, Ireland, the US, New Zealand, and Norway.

If you didn't dream of snakes or teeth before, you probably will tonight. Sorry!
