Woman Hospitalised After Holding In Farts Around Boyfriend

A woman has been hospitalised after holding in her farts around her boyfriend for two years.

TikToker Cara Clarke, 19, from Co Louth was at work when she developed ‘extreme stomach pain’ and ended up needing urgent medical care.

Watch her story here:

"I do hold in my farts but I didn’t think I would be in hospital over it,” Cara says.

"I was at work on Tuesday and I had this real extreme pain in my stomach. I went to the doctor in hysterics and he referred me straight to the hospital. I was in so much pain I couldn’t hold in my tears.”

Cara was diagnosed with appendicitis and explained how her hesitation to break wind around her partner Kyle Duffy caused the infection.

"At hospital, I started blaming my boyfriend because I do always hold my farts in around him. We've been together two years and it's still the case.”

Cara had to have her appendix removed before it burst following the ordeal.

The barista, who has been with her 21-year-old boyfriend Duffy for two years, claims he was 'dying laughing' after her efforts to hold in her wind left her needing surgery.

She says: "Kyle was dying laughing. He honestly didn't know what to say. He said, 'God, people are going to think you're afraid of everything with me’.

"At this stage, I'll just have to let it out from now on."

She has since shared her experience on TikTok in a bid to deter other women from making the same mistake.

Her video has now amassed more than 2 million views and more than 214,000 likes - with other social media users admitting they also refuse to trump in front of their partners.

While it is unclear what exactly causes appendicitis, it can be triggered by blockages, for example by waste which causes inflammation and pressure building in the appendix.
