Fast food fans - we're sorry to break it to you, but we have some bad news.
For reasons we ourselves found hard to swallow, McDonald's has removed a couple of items from their popular Saver Menu.
If any readers are unfamiliar with this budget-friendly assortment, the Saver Menu describes a selection of items at reduced prices, focussing on both affordability and value for money.
Whilst the specifics can and do change regularly, it usually boasts a number of burgers, we well as small fries, small drinks and mini McFlurries.

As we say, however, two items from this specific roster have been given the chop - including one item that heartbroken fans have since described as the 'best thing on the menu'.

Sadly, one of the items to have been quietly axed is the Bacon Double Cheeseburger, according to The Sun.
Apparently, it's been unavailable for customers to purchase for some time, having disappeared alongside my personal favourite, the Triple Cheeseburger, back in May.

The burger - which outraged foodies have since branded one of the 'best' - was first added to the franchise's menus in 2018.
Back then, the succulent snack - which consisted of two beef patties, two cheese slices, Applewood smoked bacon, a handful of pickles, a sprinkle of chopped onions and dollops of both ketchup and mustard - was priced at just £1.99.
More recently, however (before getting the chop, that is), they'd been selling for £2.89 per burger. And at 510 calories in total, it was deemed a pretty affordable lunchtime meal.
As we say, however, there's another menu item that has been deleted from the deals - the Bacon Mayo Chicken.

Though this item essentially described the classic Mayo Chicken burger with a few slices of juicy bacon chucked on top, it was widely understood to be another fan-favourite.
The sandwich boasted crispy coated chicken breasts, paired with lettuce and lathered in cool mayo, before being cushioned in a soft bun.
Asked why both burgers have been taken off-sale, a Maccies spokesperson told press this week: "We're always evolving our menu with our customers in mind to keep things fresh and exciting."

Despite the brand's innovative intentions, fans have unsurprisingly voiced their frustration over the decision online - particularly in relation to the Bacon Double Cheeseburger.
One social media user hit out: "The best thing on the menu WAS the bacon double cheeseburger."

Another complained: "@McDonaldsUKhave put the price of the Wrap Of The Day up by over 15% and horror of horrors have got rid of the Bacon Double Cheeseburger AND the Triple Cheeseburger! Hamburglers!!!"

A third simply begged: "Please tell me this is a lie?"
Thankfully, however, as the chain's spokesperson emphasised, the double burger removal comes just weeks after McDonalds added a plethora of new delicacies to its menu - including a Jaffa Cakes McFlurry, and Sprite Zero with either Green Apple or Mango and Passionfruit flavourings.
Also making their long-awaited return were Spicy Chicken McNuggets, Chicken Big Macs and Big Tastys.
