British Hotel Launches Outdoor Lemur Yoga To Help Beat Stress

British Hotel Launches Outdoor Lemur Yoga To Help Beat Stress

If you've got your downward dog nailed, you might be looking to take your yoga practice to the next level. Ever tried the lemur lotus pose? Not a pun - it's an actual thing, and a Lake District hotel is now offering you the chance to get it 'om' with the furry little fellas.

The animals were enlisted for 'lemoga' classes at Armathwaite Hall, near Keswick, which launched the sessions as one of its 'meet the wildlife' wellness activities.

The manager of the adjoining wildlife park, Richard Robinson, explained that they are ideal partners for yoga.

"When you watch lemurs they do some form of the poses naturally - that typical pose warming their bellies in the sunshine," Richard explained.

"It seemed to be a really good combination to encourage people to have a go and spend time with a lemur.

"I don't think you ever see an unhappy zoo keeper. We spend all our time with animals.

"We know how it makes us feel and if we can give a little piece of that to people then great."

As well as lemoga, the hotel's wildlife park also offers guests the chance to explore the 400-acre grounds with alpacas, meet meerkats, and fly an eagle.

This comes just after Rosebud Alpacas in Devon became the first place in England to offer yoga classes in a field full of alpacas.

Owners Nick and Lucy Aylett decided to run their yoga classes in the field where they keep their alpacas hoping it would add to the experience. They say their alpaca yoga classes in South Molton, Devon, are a "unique experience" which are "great for mind, body and soul".

"They're very relaxed so it just adds to the feeling of relaxation," explained Lucy.
