People Are Making Sleeping Bear 'Pain Au Chocolat' And It's Adorable

This is too cute!

Okay, we have a new recipe that you need to try ASAP. Be warned, though: It might be too cute to eat.

This super simple pastry takes all the deliciousness of a pain au chocolat and turns it into the most adorable little teddy bear bed.

We're worried that this might be a little bit too pretty to eat. Take a look here:

Unsurprisingly, the recipe took off on TikTok and people are now making their own precious little sleepy teddy pastries from home and sharing the results.

We honestly can't get enough of these - but we're not the only ones!

Reacting to one of the recipe videos, one viewer commented: "WHY did I tear up watching this 😂😂😂😂😂😂"

Another TikToker wrote: "Love these, I think I want to make them for my baby’s first birthday."

"This is so cute that I think it would be physically impossible for me to eat it 😩" added a third.

To make these little pain au chocolat pastries, all you will need is:

  • A roll of pastry
  • A few squares of cooking chocolate
  • An egg
  • Teddy bear biscuits (Teddy Grahams, Barny Biscuits)
  • Icing sugar

First thing's first; preheat your oven to approximately 210C and line your baking tray with parchment paper.

Next, cut your pastry sheet into three or four long slices and lay them out evenly on your baking tray.

For each pastry slice, take two squares of cooking chocolate and place them at the top - making a sort of mattress for your teddy bear, and leaving the bottom third of the pastry empty. Then add your little teddy bear on top.

Take the remaining bear piece of pastry and fold it over length-wise, so that your teddy bear biscuit is tucked in.

Use a fork to press into the edges of of the pastry bed.

Then take your egg, mix it together, and gently brush the mix over the pastry.

Finally, put your tray of sleepy teddies into the oven for 12 to 15 minutes.

And voilà! Enjoy this sweet treat - if you can bear it!
