We can all surely agree that garlic is an absolutely essential ingredient when it comes to cooking. But the process of breaking off and peeling individual cloves can be quite gruelling - especially if you're using a lot of the stuff!

That's why people were so thrilled when they discovered a super simple hack that has garlic cloves peeled in seconds flat!

Chrissy Teigen's company Cravings shared the genius trick on TikTok, and viewers haven't been the same since, describing the method as "life-changing".

All you'll need is a little bowl of water, a microwave, and a knife, and you'll have your entire bulb of garlic peeled in record time!

Reacting to the genius post, one excited TikTok user commented: "Well this might be life changing!"

Another concurred: "My life has changed forever 😂".

And a third wrote: "wow so it's that easy! 😳".

Others were shocked over how much time they had wasted hand-peeling their garlic cloves all these years.

"Wait… WHAT? I’ve wasted SO much time" said one viewer.

This hack will have your garlic peeled and ready for chopping in a matter of seconds.(

"What??? 😳 The stuff I’m learning in this app…. I’m addicted. I want to delete it… but, then I see things like this…." added a second.

"I'm doing everything wrong in life 😳" joked a third.

According to the TikTok caption, all you have to do is: "Put a whole garlic bulb (unpeeled and untrimmed) in a bowl and cover halfway with water. Microwave for 30 seconds.

"Remove from the water and pat dry. Using a utility or chef’s knife, slice off the root end of the garlic. Gently squeeze out the cloves of garlic."

The description adds: Some may need a little coaxing, but the skins should pop off without the sticky, garlic paper mess!"

While most TikTok viewers are delighted to have come across such a useful hack, some have complained that this trick only works if you plan on using the entire bulb of garlic in one go.

But as far as we're concerned, this trick is a winner. The more garlic, the better!
