Whilst the 'all Mormon women look the same' claim might be considered rather controversial, a former member of the niche community has voiced her agreement, believing there to be a valid reason for this observation.
The revelation came to light last year amid the success of a brand new reality TV series, The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives.
The Hulu docu-series - which centred on a group of Mormon influencers following a 'swinging scandal' that happened some years earlier - became an instant hit, and was praised for giving a raw insight into the realities of the religion.

Little side-note to fans of the show: the second series lands on Disney+ and Hulu today (15 May) - eek! - and by the sounds of things, it's already set tongues wagging.
"God the secret lives of mormon wives are like the best thing to happen to reality tv since jersey shore. it feeds all of my reality tv needs i swearrrrrr," one new viewer gushed online.
Another added: "At this point i’m not sleeping im too into secret lives of mormon wives. F**k it."

The first instalment of the show focussed primarily on Utah-based mum Taylor Frankie Paul, who divorced her husband Tate after discovering he and several other Salt Lake City parents had allegedly been engaging in intimate affairs with one another.
The scandal went viral at the time, with spectators seemingly blindsided that such saucy soirees would even be considered tempting in such a die-hard Christian community.
Amidst the praise, however, last year's did viewers raised their queries regarding one aspect of the show, claiming they couldn't tell a number of the show's female stars apart.
"I need the cast of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives to wear name tags please, these women all look the same," one wrote on social media, as another hit out online: "People saying all Utah women look the same & i genuinely didn’t understand until i started watching the secret lives of mormon wives. I genuinely cannot tell the difference between a majority of these women."

"I’m watching secret lives of Mormon wives and I can’t tell these woman apart they all look the same but I’m enjoying," a third continued.
Apparently, however, there's actually very good reason for such confusion, with another former Mormon spilling the tea on the alleged similarities.
Speaking on YouTube, Alyssa Grenfell - who departed from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Utah back in 2017 - claimed the resemblances amongst women could be pinned on the small gene pool, with Mormons preferring to stick together.

"Have you ever wondered why some people 'look Mormon'?" she previously asked. "Mormons really only marry other Mormons.
"You can’t marry in a Mormon temple unless it’s two Mormons getting married, this in large part has made it so that the gene pool is actually very small — especially in a place like Utah, where Mormons fled and went to Utah to be able to practice polygamy in peace."
Grenfell continued: "Those Mormons were only making babies with other Mormons for a very long time, and the only opportunity to make the gene pool a little larger is to convert people."

She also touched on the overly-friendliness of many within the Mormon community, possibly alluding to the frequency of sex scandals.
"I think another reason for this is the Mormon vibe which is often super, hyper friendly, almost too friendly," Grenfell explained.
"Mormons are taught to proselytize and share their religion... I think that Mormon culture is very copycat.”
You can watch the second series of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives on Hulu and Disney+ now.
