Scarlett Johansson has just been dethroned as highest-grossing actress of all time

Scarlett Johansson has been knocked off the top spot by another Marvel star

Another star has just taken over Scarlett Johansson's reign as the highest-grossing actor of all time.

Now, it comes as no surprise that Johansson has held this title since last summer, as she's been at the forefront of a number of iconic movies throughout her impressive career.

Especially within the last decade, which has seen the 41-year-old become a prominent figure in The Avengers franchise, as well as starring in Jurassic World Rebirth and Black Widow.

According to industry publication The Numbers Johansson now sits in the second spot on the list with $16.4 billion - which is of course, not a bad place to be at all.

The outlet reports that the movies contributing to her record include: Avengers: Endgame ($2,717,503,922 in 2019), Avengers: Infinity War ($2,048,158,241 in 2018), The Avengers ($1,515,100,211 in 2012) and Avengers: Age of Ultron ($1,395,316,979 in 2015) - I'm sensing a theme here.

Also on the list are Captain America: Civil War ($1,151,899,586 in 2016), The Jungle Book ($950,697,998 in 2016), Jurassic World Rebirth ($869,145,138 in 2025), Captain America: The Winter Soldier ($714,401,889 in 2014), Sing ($631,064,182 in 2016) and Iron Man 2 ($621,156,389 in 2010).

As we say though, someone else has nabbed the top spot - and the actor in question is Zoe Saldaña, who, as of yesterday (12 January) became the highest-grossing actor of all time.

The achievement comes just after Avatar: Fire and Ash, starring the 47-year-old Oscar-winning actor, hit a whopping $1.23bn at the global box office, bringing Saldaña’s total gross to $16.8bn.

The sci-fi franchise kicked off all the way back in 2009 when Saldaña was just 31 years old and she's set to continue starring in them for two more movies, with the fifth and final film set for a 2031 release.

While the Avatar movies dominate her list of highest-grossing, her work with Marvel and Star Trek also helped her climb the list.

According to the website, Saldaña’s top-grossing movies are: Avatar ($2,923,706,026 in 2009), Avengers: Endgame ($2,717,503,922 in 2019), Avatar: The Way of Water ($2,322,902,023 in 2022), Avengers: Infinity War ($2,048,158,241 in 2018) and Avatar: Fire and Ash ($1,231,139,287 in 2025).

Also listed are Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 ($869,087,963 in 2017), Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 ($845,555,777 in 2023), Guardians of the Galaxy ($770,882,395 in 2014), Star Trek Into Darkness ($467,381,584 in 2013) and Star Trek ($386,839,614 in 2009).

The other celebrities who round-off the top five also have Marvel roots - namely Samuel L. Jackson in third, Robert Downey Jr in fourth and Chris Pratt in fifth.

As of right now, sixth place goes to Tom Cruise, with Chris Hemsworth in seventh, Vin Diesel eighth and Chris Evans ninth.

Completing the top 10 is Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson, thanks to his Moana and Jumanji roles, to name a few.
