ITV shares first look at 'Love Island for the older generation'

My Mum, Your Dad is set to air later this year

ITV has shared a first look at the new ‘Love Island for the older generation’.

The upcoming dating series, My Mum, Your Dad, was teased during last night’s (31 July) Love Island final.

Previously dubbed as the ‘middle-aged’ spin-off, ITV revealed that it will be a totally different format.

In the show, single parents attempt to find love with the help of their children.

Dates will be secretly observed by the grown-up kids from a hidden location called ‘The Bunker’.

Their parents take part in the show ‘for a second chance at love’.

Davina McCall has been confirmed to host the new show.

She said: “Thank goodness the secret is finally out! I’ve been bursting to tell!! I’m so, so excited to host My Mum, Your Dad - this show will have you so invested in the people in it.

"Fascinating, vibrant individuals who have lived incredible lives already, with a million life lessons under their belts, as they search for their perfect life partner. But also with the juiciest twist of any show I’ve ever worked on."

Over 10 episodes, the single parents will live in a country house retreat in West Sussex.

ITV have shared teaser clips to X (that’s what Elon Musk thinks we’re all calling Twitter now), where we see a date taking place.

With tears and cringing seen from the kids in the bunker, one of the lads says: “I just hope there will be someone for dad to have, someone who really blows him away.”

Another emotional clip sees a mother explaining: “You just want to love someone, and you’re never good enough. You’re never good enough to stick around for.”

Watching on from The Bunker, her daughter adds: “My mum has had some really bad experiences in the past with relationships and I want her to be happy.”

The third clip shows a hilarious confession as a dad says to his date: “I shouldn’t really say this but my daughter’s dog, I clean his teeth with my toothbrush.”

Unsurpringly, his daughter can’t believe he’d say this, as the kids in the bunker laugh.

“Watching dad on a date, I don’t know how this is going to go,” she says.

Promising an exciting new series, Paul Mortimer, director of Reality and Acquisitions, said: "My Mum, Your Dad is set to be a relationship show with a difference, as we follow the emotional and inspiring journeys of single parents looking to find love once more.

"Packed full of heart and humour, we’re really excited to be bringing this brand new format to ITV1’s mainstream audience.

"With Davina at the helm, this will be a grown-up iteration of a series in the dating genre that, thus far, has largely been the preserve of younger viewers."

My Mum, Your Dad is set to air on ITV1 in autumn.
