I'm a Celeb star Tulisa Contostavlos has revealed she was 'hyperventilating' and 'crying' after leaving the jungle.

The N-Dubz star was the third celebrity to be voted off and sparked worry among fans when she removed all traces of the show from her social media accounts.

Tulisa, 36, also failed to take part in the spin-off show Unpacked and didn't show up for the final in which McFly's Danny Jones was crowned King of the Jungle.

At the time, Tulisa released an Instagram statement which detailed her feelings of being 'overwhelmed' following her exit and needed time to process her feelings.

She has now shed further light on her post-jungle behaviour.

In an interview with the Guardian, she said: "I came out, still followed by cameras, all t**s and teeth, and it wasn’t until I was on my own that I felt this introvert-overload.

"I was hyperventilating, crying. It was too much.”

She asked herself: “Is this about a fear I have of being in the spotlight? Or is the person I’ve become just not the kind of person that wants fame any more?”

Tulisa added: "I had a lot of fear surrounding exposure and I got to the point where I thought: ‘Am I holding on to this fear because of what people have done to me in the past? Am I letting other people change my perception of what my career is and could be?’ I didn’t want to feel that way any more.”

In her initial Instagram statement following her I'm A Celeb exit, she said: "I'm just doing a little video to clear a couple things up. Just so you know, when I came out of the jungle, I felt fine first of all and then that evening my friends went to bed.

"I was on my Instagram trying to have a nice little scroll at some funny stuff. I was getting a lot of attention, a lot of bombarding in all the most positive way.

"But because it's been a while for me I can get overwhelmed quite easily."

She continued: "And I just started to feel overwhelmed. I thought do you know what, I really just need to take a bit of time for me and just chill.

"This is all feeling just a little bit much at the moment. I'm just going to archive all my stuff to do with the jungle."

The star then added: "Then when the time is right and I've had a little time to process I'm going to make my own reels of all my best bits I really like."
