Grey's Anatomy fans have all been saying the same thing following the latest update on the hit medical drama.

Any fans of the ABC series - which first hit our screens back in 2005 - will be buzzing to know the doctors of Grey Sloan Memorial are making yet another return for another season.

The news sees Grey's Anatomy now cementing its status as the longest-running primetime medical drama, and ABC's longest-running primetime scripted series. Check out the trailer for the latest season here:

The show's official Instagram page revealed the news yesterday (2 April), writing: "Push (twenty) one of epi! 😉 #GreysAnatomy will be coming back for another season on ABC!"

The show's creator Shonda Rhimes also took to Instagram to celebrate the news.

She shared a throwback snap of the Grey's Anatomy cast celebrating their 250th episode, captioning it: "This picture was taken in 2015.

"To still be on your screens, in your living rooms, and in your hearts almost ten years later - words cannot express my gratitude.

"Grey’s was something I made up 20+ years ago, and I am so incredibly proud that it’s been picked up for its 21st season.

"This honestly could not be possible without you guys..caring about the stories I tell, the talented cast, writers, and crew. Wow."

People have since rushed to social media to share their reactions to the news, with many all saying the same thing about the lengthy series.

"I can promise you that no hospital is that interesting," one X user joked.

A second quipped: "Everyone gotta be grey now at this point."

"This is what they mean by job security!" joked a third, while a fourth hit out: "ENOUGH ALREADY!!!"

A fifth piped up: "I'll have grandkids by the time this show ever even has TALKS about a final season!"

Fans were split down the middle at the news.

"When Grey's Anatomy first started I was in high school. Now I'm having grandkids," revealed a sixth, while a seventh chimed in: "We need to learn to say goodbye to certain shows."

A final critic added: "Grey’s Anatomy is going to outlive us all."

Others, however, were clearly buzzing at the news, with one X user praising: "Greatest show of all time!"

"The best show for a reason," gushed a another, while a third championed: "YESSSS WE WON!"

"I still tune in," admitted a final X user.
