Seth Macfarlane, the creator of Family Guy, has revealed something about the character meg, and people have got a major suggestion for him.
If you’ve never sat and waited for MacFarlane’s show to come on the TV in the evening and then watching his American Dad show right after, did you really watch good TV?
The cast of the cartoon were great too, boasting MacFarlane as the voice of uneducated and risky Peter Griffin, Brian the dog, and Stewie the baby.
Then, there was Alex Borstein as his wife Lois, Seth Green as their son Chris, and then Mila Kunis as their daughter, Megatron (Meg for short).

Kunis was only 15 when she took on the role in 1999 and went on to continue until present day.
Poor Meg Griffin has been a hated character since the first season, and she has had some very strange moments.
From being perpetually bullied at school, to being perpetually bullied at home, nothing seems to go well for Meg.

When she did get a boyfriend, he was unfit (to say the least).
There was the much older Mayor West, Jimmy Fallon who slept with her as part of a prank for his show, Brian (her dog), Jeff the nudist and a convict pen pal.
Her schtick is that she’s miserable, undesirable and bullied.
But why?

Originally, she was a normal teenage girl who was a valued part of the family, per the first couple of episodes.
But as time went on, ripping on Meg became a regular and expected gag.
The reason? Because MacFarlane couldn’t write teenage girl characters.
According to Hollywood Insider, the writer shared that his writing team was mostly male, and nobody could figure out how to depict a teen girl.

Detailing that her unpopularity was due to ‘a bunch of male writers not knowing how to write for a teenage girl’, which was ‘therapeutic’ to put her through the ringer, fans were understandably annoyed.
This is because they feel there was an obvious solution. To hire women to write the character.
One social media commenter wrote: “Maybe hire a few female writers?”

Another scathed: “I personally never found the mistreatment of a teenage girl funny. Out of all the ways the writing team could have punched, it was consistently down at girls.”
They went on to shared how they ‘think Seth Macfarlane and the writing team have a lot to answer for’ how they portrayed the teenage girl.
