The Parent Trap has become a staple childhood film in the years since it came out. But now, the Millennials who grew up watching the family comedy have realised something about Meredith Blake, and it’s left them baffled.
The Nancy Meyers-directed flick is a remake of the 1961 Disney movie of the same name. The 1998 version centres on two 11-year-old identical twin sisters, Annie James and Hallie Parker (both played by Lindsay Lohan), who are separated at birth when their parents, Elizabeth (Natasha Richardson) and Nick (Dennis Quaid), divorce.
The girls accidentally meet each other for the first time at a summer camp, completely unaware that they are sisters.
Once they realise their connection, they decide to swap places - Annie travels to California to live with their dad, meanwhile Hallie embraces life in London to live with their mum, with the end goal of reuniting their parents.

However, one person standing in the way of this happening is publicist Meredith Blake (Elaine Hendrix), Nick’s fiancée who is only with him for his money.
An Instagram account reposted pictures from a scene in which Meredith reveals her age - 26 - and people couldn't believe it as they thought the character was older, especially considering her relationship with Nick.
“Never seen a 26 years old dress like that,” one fan commented, referencing Meredith’s mature attire.
Fans also struggled coming to terms with being the same age - or older - than Meredith after watching the film as a child.
“I’m 27 and I could never imagine being Meredith imagine being Meredith in my 20s lol,” one wrote.
“Serving this for my 26th birthday,” another fan shared.
Someone else commented: “I'm 26 dating a rich 43-year-old lol we happy over here.”
Hendrix was also 26 years old when she filmed the movie in the summer of 1997.
When asked if she felt like their lives were similar in an interview for the film’s 20th anniversary, Hendrix told Vulture: “We were the exact same age. That was not by design; it just so happened to be that way. Anytime you book a gig, much less starring role, in a big studio movie - I was 26 years old; that felt like such an accomplishment.
“I had Meredith’s same drive and ambition. Meredith’s far more put together and - what’s the word? Precious.
“She’s not as outdoorsy and natural and, you know… with lice and stuff like that, whereas I am all about animals. I’m all about camping. I love kids. I think really one of the biggest differences is that I didn’t dress as fabulously as Meredith did.”
