A bombshell true crime Netflix documentary has engrossed viewers who can't believe the stranger than fiction relationship between a prison guard and a dangerous inmate.

The gripping documentary centres on the story of Vicky White, an exemplary prison officer who was employed at Lauderdale County Detention Center in Florence, Alabama for 17 years.

Behind the scenes, Vicky had fallen in love with an inmate, Casey White (they aren't related - the surnames are just a coincidence!) who was set to spend the rest of his life behind bars after being served a 75-year prison sentence for attempted murder and robbery in 2015.

The documentary, Jailbreak: Love on the Run is a compulsively watchable play by play of how Vicky plotted Casey's escape from prison - with many viewers coming to the heartbreaking conclusion that Casey 'manipulated' Vicky 'to her death'.

After being on the run for 11 days, a tip-off led to their capture and before police were able to arrest them, Vicky shot herself in the head.

The documentary features interviews with Vicky's friends and family, as well as a series of hot and heavy phone calls between the two which have left viewers clutching their pearls.

The two moan each others names, yearn for the day they can have sex in real life, and make many banana-based innuendos.

They also discuss lingerie, sex acts and sex toys.

There were over 1,000 calls made between Casey and Vicky.

One person wrote on X: "They honestly didn't have to play the recording of the phone sex on #LoveOnTheRun."

Another said: "OMFG these phone sex conversations."

A third added: "Nahhh Netflix playing those recordings of them having phone sex was wicked af."

Matt Burbank, the Director of Corrections at the prison Vicky worked in, confirming in the documentary that the pair did in fact have sex in the prison.

As for how Vicky pulled off the escape plan, she set her scheme into motion on 29 April 2022.

The decorated employee asked a fellow officer to bring Casey 'up to booking and shackle him', to which they obliged.

The two then left, apparently for an evaluation at the courthouse, but when hours passed and they didn't return, alarm bells started to ring.

The two then embarked on their journey being outlaws, living in a motel until their eventual discovery.

Casey White was once again put behind bars.

He told filmmakers following his arrest: "We was married in my laws.

“We weren't married in faith laws... I was her husband and she was my wife."

Jailbreak: Love On the Run is available to watch on Netflix.
