One of the manosphere influencers from Louis Theroux's explosive new Netflix documentary has hit out at the journalist and shared details of footage he says didn't make the final cut.
The docu-film, which is currently 'No. 1 in Film Today' on the streaming giant in the UK, shows the BAFTA winner interviewing some of the leading social media influencers and podcasters who profit from and spread controversial ideas from the most extreme fringes of the manosphere.
Titled Inside the Manosphere, the doc features the likes of Harrison Sullivan, aka HStikkytokky, Amrou Fudl, aka Myron Gaines, Justin Waller, Nicolas Kenn De Balinthazy, aka Sneako and Ed Matthews.
Many Netflix viewers were wondering whether Andrew Tate, who has been dubbed by his devoted followers the 'king of toxic masculinity', would be involved in the doc, but he didn't make an appearance.
A number of the manosphere influencers whom Theroux spoke to have spoken out following the documentary's release, including Gaines.
Gaines is most famous for hosting Fresh and Fit Podcast, which provides him with a platform to broadcast highly offensive views about women, Jewish people, overweight or unattractive individuals, transgender and queer people, and what he calls ‘ghetto Black women and Shaniquas'.
The 36-year-old also hosts a 'Red Pill Wednesday' segment, where he gives dating 'advice' that falls in line with the view that men should be 'dictators', and women, their 'subordinates'.
"I dictate when I want to put d**k in you, b***h, and you dictate when the sandwiches come by my dictation," he once said during an episode.
He's also written a book titled Why Women Deserve Less.
Louis Theroux's Inside the Manosphere docu-film hit the streamer this week (Netflix) In the doc, Theroux inquires about Gaines' relationship with a woman named Angie, and his alleged 'rotation' of other women.
"I do want multiple wives," Gaines admitted,
Angie then enters the set, prompting Theroux to ask for her take on their 'one-sided monogamous relationship'.
"The women that he sleeps with, he's just going to be with them for like, a night," she explains.
But, when asked about the prospect of being one of Gaines' multiple wives in the future, however, Angie confesses: "I don't know how that will work."
Manosphere influencer Myron Gaines has spoken out following the doc's release (Netflix) At the end of the documentary, viewers learn that the couple had later broken up.
It's clear that Gaines wasn't happy about the documentary, which has taken the internet by storm, as he took to X yesterday (12 March) to slam Theroux over his documentary 'pushing a clear agenda'.
He wrote in a lengthy post, which also called out YouTuber Chris Williamson: "And now Louis Theroux, disingenuous as ever in his so-called journalism, has released his manosphere documentary."
Gaines claimed that Theroux 'selectively edited and framed the footage to push a clear agenda', declaring that he also 'conveniently' omitted key context and moments 'that would have told the full, unfiltered story'.
"Fully expecting this, I recorded all my interactions with @louistheroux and his team," he continued.
Speaking on YouTube, Gaines called Netflix 'woke garbage' and Theroux a 'left-leaning journalist', but claimed the documentary had him 'an enormous amount of reach', which is why he agreed to take part.
He then went on to accuse Theroux of 'snake s**t' and creating a 'hit piece'.
Speaking about a cut scene from the documentary, Gaines said Theroux challenged him on his antisemitic views.
He added: "He did try to ask me about the Jews and I had a whole debate with him about Hitler and everything, and he lost that, and he didn't put that in there for obvious reasons."
