Love Island viewers spot Joey Essex 'jumpscare' in background of final

Viewers of this year’s Love Island finale couldn’t help but notice a familiar face amongst the axed Islanders awaiting the winner’s reveal in the crowd.

We are, of course, talking about Mr Joey Essex, who would have bagged a place in the 2024 finale if his former cast-mates hadn’t sensationally given him the boot on Monday night that is.

After being asked to vote which of the remaining couples are the last compatible, the vast majority of former stars voted for Joey and his partner Jessy, being that he'd previously jumped from Samantha Kenny, to Grace Jackson, to his current beau.

And by the looks of things, Joey isn't quite over being given the chop, and appeared less than impressed during a 'jumpscare' appearance during tonight's live final.

"Lmfao Joey does not looked impressed. At least pretend #loveIsland" one viewer tweeted on social media.

Another went on: "Lool Joey looks like he wanna go home #loveisland"

"Not a Joey jump scare #LoveIsland" a third added.

Another penned: "JOEYS FACE DDM."

Despite claiming during a chat with presenter Maya Jama that things with him and Jessy are going 'really well', he also said they aren't quite on girlfriend-boyfriend level just yet.

He added that he has 'no regrets' over his antics in the villa, despite claiming his former pals' verdict was 'savage'.

Along with Joey and Jessy, we'll also have to say goodbye to several more of this year’s loved up contestants when the final concludes this evening.

Though we'll have to find another way to kill at hour at 9pm six nights a week, we’re over the moon to see what the future has in store for this year’s Islanders.

Following Joey and Jessy Potts’ shock dumping on Monday night left four couples remaining, all of whom had landed themselves a spot in the final.

Jess and Ayo, Mimii and Josh, Nicole and Ciara, and Sean and Matilda all proved throughout the duration of the series that true love conquers all – including a Casa Amor slip up, a batch of bombshells, and a visit from an unconvinced family member.

And tonight, the 2024 winner will finally be revealed by hostess Maya Jama in a nail-biting live finale.
