Travis Kelce facing calls to be punished before Super Bowl

Travis Kelce is facing calls for punishment ahead of the Super Bowl and the reason is shocking.

Now, the Super Bowl 59 is here and we’re all excited to see who'll come out on top - the Kansas City Chiefs or the Philadelphia Eagles.

We’re also super excited to see how Kendrick Lamar makes use of his minutes during the famous halftime show, and whether he’s going to rub salt in Drake’s wound after having won an obscene amount of Grammy Awards this year in one night.

Anyway, it’s safe to say that this is a monumental event that everyone in the US is looking forward to watching.

However, Kelce might not be enjoying his time so much after NFL fans have been calling for him to be penalised.

While Kelce is generally very much loved, with him now having even more fans thanks to his girlfriend Taylor Swift, some NFL fans aren't loving him so much at the minute.

It's all down to what he did during last Sunday’s AFC Championship Game during the second quarter of their game against the Buffalo Bills.

At the time, the Chiefs scored a 1-yard touchdown on a Patrick Mahomes run, giving them a 21-10 lead. But after the touchdown, Kelce started celebrating in the wrong way.

He did this by getting close to the face of Bills' safety Damar Hamlin and appeared to be making fun of him.

Bills' Cole Bishop saw what was going on, and then decided to get into Kelce's face in response, leading to the pair getting into a heated moment.

Sadly, this situation wasn’t over, as Bills defensive lineman Jordan Phillips joined and touched the front of Kelce’s helmet, which (if you’ve ever been in a heated argument) you know that physical contact is generally a huge sign that you’re about to get physical.

With that, Phillips was punished with a flag for unnecessary roughness and Kelce, got away with starting the fray.

This has led to a group of NFL fans asking for officials to punish Kelce for his conduct ahead of the Super Bowl 59.

On social media, people wrote of their suggestions.

Someone said on X: "If I’m a defender and Kelce puts his face mask on mine and starts yapping , Imma try to take your head off. Getting flagged and fined anyway.”

Another wrote: "How is Kelce not fined for taunting there? Like the rule is stupid but if you’re going to make it a rule, you need to uphold it.”

As someone else seethed: "The NFL is rigged. Call me insane call me a conspiracy theorist fine, but there’s no way that Josh was short on that 4th and 1 that decided the game. Xavier Worthy did not catch that football. Travis Kelce can Taunt but the Bills can’t. I won’t watch a Chiefs Bills game again.”

However, no punishment has been confirmed which would stop Kelce from playing Super Bowl 59.
