Travis Kelce has been savaged by social media users after debuting a new look at the Kansas City Chiefs’ NFL Season Opener.
Tight end Kelce, 34, and the Chiefs started their bid to claim their third consecutive Super Bowl title on Thursday (September 5) with a neat 27-20 victory over the Baltimore Ravens.
As the NFL star finished the first contest of the 2024/25 season with three catches for 34 yards, his girlfriend Taylor Swift, 34, looked on from a suite inside the Arrowhead Stadium.

And while NBC cameras were trained on the ‘Love Story’ hitmaker throughout the majority of the evening, it was the Kansas City field warmups that caught the mass’s attention.
Kelce opted to get ready for the weather-delayed game without a helmet on, sporting a thick moustache (minus his signature beard) and a short, choppy hairstyle.
His new look has seemingly irked some American football fans, with one taking to X to write: “This is not a man who’s ever planning to be on the market again.
“Travis Kelce went to the barbershop, sat down in that chair and said “Give me the most awkward haircut you can think of to let the ladies know that THIS man ain’t looking!’.”g
A second commented: “Travis Kelce is proof that how a man chooses to style his hair & beard/stache…can make or break his level of attractiveness. Because sheeeesh.”
“He looks like a young Andy Reid,” claimed another, referencing the iconic Chiefs’ football coach.
“Beard makes a big difference,” snapped someone else.
However, hundreds more have come out in defence of the footballer's hairstyle, with one social media user writing: “Are we acting like this isn’t a hairstyle right now? Also, he’s got no product so the front looks wack, but you don’t see that under a helmet.”
“He has kept the hella good hair that he's been growing out,” remarked another.
And a third said: “Travis Kelce with long hair I mean SWOOOOOONNNNN.”
Swift’s attendance at the latest Chiefs game has also created some headlines.
In a viral video shared ahead of the match, the ‘Bad Blood’ singer could be seen gesturing to someone through the glass screen of her suite.
And while the origins of the exchange are unknown, one lip-reading fan believes they know what she said.
“I think she’s saying ‘I love it... thank you so much!’ then she laughs and says ‘SHES SO CUTE’,” they commented.
Another echoed: “It was a very sweet and lovely reaction, her style is very cute.”
