Body language expert reveals how Timothée Chalamet 'dramatically changed' after spotting Kylie Jenner at Oscars

While Timothée Chalamet and Kylie Jenner sat apart during his big moment at the Oscars, an expert has revealed how the actor's body language 'dramatically changed' after seeing his girlfriend.

Last night (2 March) saw Hollywood A-Listers descend on the Dolby Theatre for the 97th Academy Awards, celebrating achievements in film during the past 12 months.

Amongst those who attended the prestigious event were Timothée Chalamet - who was nominated for the Best Actor in a Leading Role award for his role as Bob Dylan in A Complete Unknown - and his girlfriend, Kylie Jenner.

The pair, who've been dating since the beginning of 2023, notably sat apart while Chalamet's category was announced. And it was for a really sweet reason.

While they sat next to each other for the majority of the night, during a commercial break just before the Best Lead Actor was announced, Kylie switched to a seat behind her beau with another woman taking her place beside him.

Eagle-eyed fans quickly noticed that the woman sat next to Timothée was his mum, who he gave special mention to at this year's SAG Awards last month.

Speaking at the awards ceremony, he said: "I’ll start by thanking my mother who I’m here with tonight. She has been working at Actors' Equity for 40 years, in the stage union."

And it seems the 29-year-old's relationship with Jenner, 27, is just as strong, with a body language expert revealing how he 'dramatically changed' after spotting her at last night's event.

Speaking to The Mirror, Judi James revealed: "Kylie's non-verbal influence with Timothée often appears to be quite maternal, looking lovingly supportive and encouraging while he can seem like a shy teen."

She explained that the actor is typically cool and collected on the red carpet, 'unsmiling and with his hands clasped behind his back like a schoolmaster showing off his edgier side.'

However, this was quickly discarded when he spotted his girlfriend of two years at last night's event.

"As he joined Kylie though his signals swung more to someone soppy with a crush. She stands upright and smiling here and it's him leaning in and taking her hand with what looks like an expression of relief and delight," she explained.

The couple's affection for each other was clear throughout the entire event, with the expert also commenting on how Kylie adopted a 'proud and fiercely protective mom mode' when her partner faced mockery for his choice of outfit, 'clutching his right hand in both of hers and pulling it onto her lap to signal reassurance and ownership.'
