A doctor has issued a serious health warning after Kendrick Lamar fans spotted a concerning detail during his eagerly anticipated Super Bowl performance.

The 37-year-old 'Not Like Us' rapper took to the stage at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans on Sunday (9 February) to perform some of his biggest hits to his adoring fans.

For the halftime show, Lamar opted for a pair of bootcut jeans, a black top, a varsity jacket, a statement 'a' initial necklace and a pair of gloves - the fashion get-up being something fans were quick to show worry over on social media.

One X user hit out: "Whoever dressed Kendrick should be fired. Dude was sweating b*lls in that coat."

"Everytime I see Kendrick he’s always sweatin and in my head I’m yellin at him to take off the hot ass hoodie or jacket he’s wearing!" pointed out a second.

And a third gushed: "Kendrick’s breath control is crazy. Running while rapping and not missing a word. No backtrack. My man was sweating!!! As he should!!!"

Dr Donald Grant, GP and Senior Clinical Advisor at The Independent Pharmacy, has since weighed in the health risks associated to overheating.

He told Tyla: "Following Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl halftime show, much of the conversation has centred around the rapper’s interesting outfit, with Kendrick choosing to wear multiple layers, despite a long performance under the lights."

Dr Grant explained that his clothing and accessories ensemble plus the environment in which Lamar was performing could 'quitee easily cause the performer to overheat'.

He warned that this could 'increase the risk of various health concerns, such as; heat cramps, heatstroke and heat exhaustion'.

"It also boosts the chances of heart attacks and strokes, so maintaining a healthy temperature is crucial for our well-being," the expert noted.

Dr Grant also made sure to outline: "Overheating can quickly cause an individual to dehydrate.

"Symptoms of dehydration include dizziness, increased thirst, a dry mouth, and dark yellow-coloured urine which can be caused by a lack of water and excessive sweating."

In order to protect against these conditions and lower the risk of illness, Dr Grant says that Lamar 'would’ve had to manage his hydration levels, ensuring he drank a sufficient amount of water to protect against fluid lost through sweat'.

"Furthermore," he rounded off, "the rapper could have lowered the risk of potential health concerns by opting for more suitable clothing options."
