Shania Twain reveals she will 'never hate' ex-husband Robert 'Mutt' Lange after his affair with her best friend

Shania Twain reveals she will 'never hate' ex-husband Robert 'Mutt' Lange after his affair with her best friend

The 'Man, I Feel Like A Woman' singer has since remarried her ex-BFF's former husband

As well as her punchy country-pop tracks and iconic videos, legendary singer Shania Twain is renowned for her stellar song-writing ability, having churned out some of the music industry's most iconic lyrics.

'You're still the one I run to, the one that I belong to' - a guaranteed tear-jerker.

Belting out, 'So, you think you're Brad Pitt' on girls' night is an absolute must.

And there's nothing like the phrase, 'Man, I feel like a woman', to make you want to kick a door of its hinges.

And apparently - much like many other chart-topping artists (cough, Taylor Swift) - Shania, 58, is known for having used the ups and downs of her personal life as inspiration for her bestselling singles, having endured her fair share of heartache during her time in the spotlight.

Most notably, when her husband Robert 'Mutt' Lange shook the globe by cheating on her WITH HER BEST FRIEND.

Yep. You read that right.

It was revealed that her former hubby had been having an affair with her long-term BFF, Marie-Anne Thiébaud.

The scandal hit the headlines all the way back in 2008 after Shania and Robert had been married for 15 years, just a few years after the pair welcomed their son Eja, now 22.

And even more shockingly, following the divorce between the former flames, mum-of-one Shania surprised us all by going on to marry Marie-Anne's ex husband, Frédéric Thiébaud.

Despite all the drama that plagued Shania's early noughties, she has this week spoken out on her high-profile break-up, admitting she harbours no resentment for her ex.

Speaking on Jamie Laing's Great Company podcast, the 'Don't Impress Me Much' singer explained: "Forgiveness is in the family of letting go. But forgiveness, more specifically for me anyway, is not about forgetting necessarily.

"It's about understanding the other person, and that might mean that they're wrong."

Asked where she and Robert's relationship now stands, she continued: "So do I hate my ex -husband for making a mistake? No. It's his mistake. Not my mistake.

"It's really unfortunate for him to have made such a big error that he has to live with. And I don't know what that feels like, but it's not my burden to bear."

Since the double-split, the two newly-formed couples have remained happily loved-up, with Shania having previously credited her divorce with having brought her to her current hubby, Fred.

During an appearance on Armchair Expert, she opened up: "[I saw] how gracefully and graciously he was dealing with navigating the same pain."

Gushing over her partner, she went on: "Fred's so smart. This is one of the smartest people I know, [and] he didn't know [about the affair] either. That helped me feel better. I got what I deserve. I got the greatest man on the planet."

Thankfully, however, Shania and Robert have no issue with co-parenting their son, with the singer opening up on their regular communication.

"Mutt and I parent well together - for people who don't talk to each other. We'll just text," she said.

"We both adore our boy so much, we never play any mind games. Eja is our top priority; we make shared arrangements for him. There's no fuss there."
