Susanna Reid chokes up on GMB as she finds out Strictly star Robin Windsor has died live on air

The star passed away aged 44

Good Morning Britain presenter Susanna Reid could be seen holding back tears as she found out about the heartbreaking death of 'phenomenal' Robin Windsor live on-air.

The Strictly professional passed away aged 44, the dance company he founded announced this morning.

The star joined the hit BBC show back in 2010, taking to the dance floor with a whole host of celebs including model Patsy Kensit, Emmerdale actor Lisa Riley and Dragon’s Den star Deborah Meaden.

Announcing the news of his tragic death, a statement on the official page of the dance company Burn the Floor reads: "The Burn the Floor family has lost one of its founding members, Robin 'Bobby' Windsor - who has tragically passed away."

The statement continued: "A BTF journeyman he danced with us for twenty years - including Broadway, The West End and all our crazy adventures around the world.

"His stunning image attached with Jessica Raffa defined our company, colourful, extreme and sensual. His talent, attitude, energy and personality helped create the Burn the Floor stage reputation.

"He leaves a void in our hearts that will never be filled, yet our wonderful memories will stay forever.”

Tributes came flooding in for the Strictly star.

As the news broke, an emotional Reid struggled to keep her composure and could be seen choking up as she let co-host Ed Balls take the reins and announce the sad news to viewers.

Reid danced with Windsor in a special episode for Children In Need back in 2011 before appearing alongside him for the 2013 series of Strictly, in which she was partnered with Kevin Clifton and Windsor danced with Meadon.

Holding back tears, Susanna told GMB viewers: "He was an absolutely remarkable dancer, strong, so creative, he was just so enthusiastic about dancing. I just adored him.

"He was the most incredible personality. As soon as I danced with him there was something really special about it."

After the break, she continued: "I have wonderful memories of you, Robin. He was very sensual, wonderfully exuberant. Full of strength and creativity. He made me fall in love with dancing. He was a fabulous, phenomenal personality."

Tributes have been pouring in for Windsor, with fellow Strictly professional James Jordan posting on X: "I had the pleasure of working with this man for many years on Strictly. Everyone who came in contact with him adored him, from his celebrity partners to his working colleagues. You will be missed old friend."
